Default Vetra adding keyboard broadcasting to ps/2 KVM switch

I wrote an e-mail to Vetra this morning inquiring about switches that can dynamically broadcast to a subset of connected computers.

The response I got is that they will be adding (within the next 2 weeks) broadcasting functionality to their PS/2 KVM switch line. This means we'll be able to control any one computer or all computers with one set of keyboard.

Coupled with the USB thing I read earlier, looks like there might be quite a few changes coming in the Vetra line-up.

Wait, what? They are combing a KVM WITH a multicaster? Damn, that would just about all you would need. Hit one button to tap a single computer, another to broadcast all.

Grr... I j ust bought my second set of multicasters a while back too!

Man, I would REALLY want that. But I just bought the new 8 prot one last week. Wonder if they do trade-ins and can some how work a deal out with them. I'm going to try lol

Ahh the joys of being on the cutting edge I bought my 30" monitors about a week before the new HC models came out.

Turns out that the ones I bought were so defective I sent them all back and bought the new HC models for about the same price.

Ebay... MAYBE - but most likely not. I rarely see ANY Vetras on there. Their stuff is enterprise gear, stuff you see more in a B2B setting - its such a cut above the cheap stuff that other companies churn out.

Plus, they will do all sorts of crazy custom jobs for you. I don't have any financial ties with them but I love their stuff.

They seem like a very good company. The reason there isnt not much hardware like this, is that this is a very small market. Vetra seems to be willing to talk to people and get ideas about what the gamers are looking for (I doubt they had gaming in mind when they started).

There are a handfull of KVM's out there that support broadcasting to a subset of computers. As far as I can tell they only do this within the OSD of the KVM and will not accept all keystrokes. I know there is at least one USB KVM out there that does this, however it has a large amount of lag. Either way I am not willing to spend the money on them only to find out they do not do what I want. Vetra has my solution in the works and I can wait

Now this is great. Im pricing up everything right now and having just this vs. the broadcaster, kvm and Y adapters will be sweet and cost less.

Yeah, you can also eliminate the y mice too! This would be great!

I know, this is an old thread.

Anyway, did Vetra ever release this kvm/multicaster? I have been looking all over and can't find it on their site. A link to it, or a model # would be great.

Not as of yesterday. If they keep waiting around, software boxing is going to be enough for nearly everybody and they are going to lose a ton of potential sales.

I would never move to software boxing.
The only reason 80% of these forums multibox is because of software. If KC wasn't around they wouldn't do it.

Not willing to have to rely on someone to develop and make bug fixes when a hardware setup works with any game any time.
