Please be aware that the Matrox team ain't the fastest at updating its DualHead2go - TripleHead2go "drivers" to keep up with ATI chips.

I just found out that their lastest version of PowerDesk app, in charge of listing all different resolution available to your card, isn't capable of detecting the new X3850 and X3870 chips.

As a result, it considers them as sub-X2000s and limits the max res to 2880 * 900.

    While the X2000s get to 3800 * 1200, even the slowish X2400.

This has been confirmed over the phone with their HQ tech support in Montreal a few hours ago.

No deadline available for the patch, the folks actually opened a ticket to the Dev team.

    Quick update.

I spent the whole day trying to make this Matrox DualHead2go to work, the bastard is making my whole setup to crash, no Matrox tech Support guy has a clue, even the DualHead2go Dev team doesn't have a clue.

Them, at their Montreal HQ : "huh.. Ati Radeon 3850 ? that's not released yet"...

Me : "Yeah not released yet ? Ever heard of Tom's Hardware reviews ? Like Asus, MSI, Sapphire are shipping them by thousands worldwide and you folks still haven't got a copy to fix the patch yet. You could have gone to Newegg.com 3 weeks ago and get both the 3850 and the 3870 versions for 300 USD to start working on the patch".

I now understand why this company got blastered by ATI and NVIDIA out of main-stream market a few years ago.

They're still working under analog time-frame.

My advice : stay away from the Matrox suckers.

They haven't learnt how to loot a clue.
