Try to not buy TN panels. Especially if you want to put things in portrait mode. I can't speak for S-PVA or IPS (want!), but TN viewing angles in portrait mode are horrid.

Hardware Lurker
I currently run 3 toons on a 32" samsung lcd at 1080p. I have my main window full screen with 2 PiP's for the slaves, about 3" each, just so I can verify that they are interacting with their targets, place my ground aoe cursor etc. Its worked really well, but I have been thinking of upgrading to 3 of these http://www.ncix.com/products/?sku=55...nufacture=BenQ
They are a good panel, can pivot and are at a good price. There is an asus IPS panel that's a bit cheaper, but the bezel is thick and it can't pivot.
hope that helps your decision
These post where all helpful but I shomehow feel I'm no closer to my decision than before, luckly I still have a solid two months before I can act on anything anyway.
Now I'm running two Dell UltraSharp U2410 and one older Dell 2407 on my secondary PC so its close enough to a triple-setup.
