Default [WoW] Custom Macro Pictures/Text

Props and all for Blizzard's pretty art work but all of the pictures they give us for macro's are already have their own meanings. It kinda screws with my head to reuse the pictures and always has. So...

Question: Anyone know of a mod or other method to add additional pictures or even *gasp* just text?

    Thanks

Default RE: [WoW] Custom Macro Pictures/Text
http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=96143900&sid=1]If you would like to use custom icons for your macros, you can place them in your World of Warcraft\Interface\Icons folder (creating this folder if it doesn't exist). The files must follow the same guidelines for UI textures. Namely, they must be either BLP files or 24-bit/24-bit+alpha uncompressed TGA files. Their dimensions must be powers of two up to 512 (e.g. 32x32, 512x128). Note: any images that aren't square will look squished on your action bar.
I use gimp for most my image needs, but any program that can save tga's for you is fine. BLP I think is a blizzard proprietary format, and there are converters I believe but just doing TGA's is easier.

You can, of course, just make images with text on them or make one image with a suitable plain background to use and let your action bars show the text label of the macro. Every bar addon I've used will truncate all but very short macro labels though.

I made a plain black icon a long time ago for my use. Attached it here. The macro name displays nicely on the plain black background.

There are some nice icons in game that aren't available through the macro screen that you can add just by looking up the names on wowwiki and just adding their names to your macros through the text editor.

For instance I use the looking for more icon for my group macro:

    MACRO 9 "INVITE" Inv_Misc_GroupNeedMore
    /invite soandso
    END

Still good to roll your own, but just another alternative.

There is a tga/blp converter at Curse: http://wow.curse.com/downloads/details/90/

I made a package of emote icons a long time ago so there are probably some missing. Greens are friendly, yellow neutral and reds are hostile. Here is a sample:

Here's a JPG of the package: http://feathermoon.us/files/emotes.jpg and the ZIP: http://feathermoon.us/files/emote_icons.zip
