Default $1500 new comp....1-2 frames when I dual box [SOLVED]

With only 2 accounts open, my frame rates go down to less than 5 on both accounts. Here is my setup:

    • i5-760 @ 4.0 ghz (stable prime 95)
    • 16 gb G.Skill memory (stable memtest)
    • 5870 (2) crossfired
    • SSD - G.Skill Phoenix pro

    • 1920 x 1080
    • ultra settings

Obviously my "ultra" settings is going to be the first thing everyone comments about; but with a ~ $1500 setup, I don't see why it can't handle 2 accounts on ultra settings. I've tried adjusting the settings down to high and it becomes playable, but I'm just wondering if there's anyone out there that has a similar or slower setup that is able to dual box on ultra settings. My score on futuremark is comparable to others with identical system.

EDIT: Problem solved!!! It turns out flash player was the issue. When a flash video is open (youtube, etc), it will down clock my gpu to a 2-D setting. This means that it brings my GPU clock down to 400 from 850 and memory to 900 from 1200. All I did was right click on the flash video, select settings, and UNCHECK "hardware acceleration".

Turn down your shadows, disable crossfire.

Ultra on 2 will bring performance down alot. Idk about below 5fps though.

A current $1500 PC will not run one wow on max settings without having ~20 fps in sw/ogrimmar/raids. Just because the game is 6 years old doesn't mean that the engine is never being upgraded, it's an MMO yo.

lol...my $1200 system runs about 48fps in Org on ultra prime time once the textures finish loading up.

It's all about the setup, yo.

+1 to disabling crossfire. Unfortunately, sli and crossfire do not seem to work well with WoW, especially when in windowed mode.

Also, I know it may seem crazy, but also make sure your system power setting is on HIGH PERFORMANCE.

    Also, are you running ISBoxer?

What core affinity is set for the two instances?

Does adjusting the in-game settings make a difference?

Do you have any other "blended" graphics objects overlaying the game? (ATI hates this in my experience)

    no

Didn't make a difference when I set specific core affinities.

Setting it on High increased the frame rates to ~15 fps, but it was still very choppy to play

did that. it did help slightly, but still crappy.

    it was on that already.

Atm, if one of my character is in Org and the other one is somewhere else, the org character would get about 15 choppy frames while the other one would be about 30.

Obvious question: whats the framerate with only one client running?

Whats the load on CPU and GPU like with only one client running?

High traffic areas like Org are _very_ cpu intensive so if your framerate suffers it may be related to your cpu more then to your graphics cards unless there is something completely wrong with those.

Also: whats your interpretation of prime stable (24 hours continuous running prime or "I was able to start it up?")
