Thread: Nostromo

    Default Nostromo

Does anyone else use a nostromo while boxing? I had one in the attic from back when i was grinding honor in vanilla. I dug it out and fired it up again. Im having to relearn it and figure out a good layout but its making me better after only using it a coupe days. I still havent learned it well enough to add additional states (like layouts you switch on the fly). I do try to use just the nostromo and my tracball and do away with the keyboard except for chatting or things you rarely need to do (turn on/off broadcasting, etc)

If you use one, how do you use it?
do you use the alternate states?
Do you use it in conjunction with a keyboard?

    heya,

I love my nostromo first of all. so much so, I literally wore out the silcon pad that pops the keys back up on my 'r' key... razor bought beklin out but you will really like the key response between the original n52 vs n52te, plus the software doesn't tend to hang anymore from when you start up multiple wow accounts.

you need to set a key combination that will alter your states between red, green, and blue. I use the scroll well to toggle these states on and off as I don't use scroll on my right hand at all otherwise. I have to admit though, I only used the states to help me switch between when i was in a vehicle vs just on regular mount.

I use the n52te on my left hand and mouse on right. keyboard is just for typing and trolling. this was because I found that I had poor hand positioning on my right hand that was restricting blood flow to my small finger. the nostromo design feels very comfortable for me to game several hours on a weekend or after a long verbose day at the office documentation garbage...
    gl :P
Wondering what now will be the new pew pew class....

I used to play with a N52 (original version). The main difference was when I started moving characters with the D-pad. So many available keys under my "productive" fingers. It takes a bit of time to get used to, but it is well worth it/

I moved to a Logitech G13 since then, I think it is superior to the N52 in every possible way. I am of course using the thumb-stick to move characters around.

What setup are you using to move characters around with it? are you moving just your main or is it used to move alts? or both?

I have Shift and Control bound to the thumb keys on my mouse (a Logitech G9).

When I use the thumb stick on the G13 pad, only my main moves. If I use Shift+Stick, only the alts moves. If I use Control+Stick, everybody moves. I find it to work quite well, especially when "driving" from the tank character.

Whatever character moves, I have 4 fingers free for action on the G-keys of the pad.

I used top use a nostromo for all my boxing in other mmo's. A superb controller for games that dont support verbose macros like wow to use keyclone and such. However it is now gathering dust since i have discovered keyclone and 2 step macros LoL..

I've been thinking of hooking my nostromo up and using it to control my Rift Trio..

Problem is I haven't used it in so long I feel it will take me forever to get used to it again.

I am using an Ideazon Fang. Ideazon/Zboard went out of business and SteelSeries bought out the gear. They haven't updated the software in ages but it is easy enough to configure for a new game. I have been using my current one for 3 years and bought a replacement for whenever it breaks.

I use the Fang on my left hand and positioned right next to the 18 keys on my Logitech G15 which gives me a huge amount of keys for 3 boxing Rift.

Id like to have a mouse with a bunch of buttons but i use a tracball. I hate mice. The tracball is always in the same spot.

Im getting used to the nostromo again. i really should use the dpad for movement though so i would have more buttons without changing states.
