    Default Question About X-Key Macros

The macros recorded by the X-Keys hardware, are they keystroke combos? (ie. ctrl-A, shift-B) or can you specify key sequences (ie. AABAC)?

And if you can specify key sequences, can they record latency? or does it just output the sequence at maximum speed?

Couple people on here use them. I look forward to getting one soon.

Far as specify key sequences. It works just a like a keyboard, there isn’t really any latency to speak of, least that I know of. You can however setup cast sequence macros for one key. Example my warlock macros contain all the dots. I just hit 1 key over and over, each time I press it, it casts the next spell in the sequence. If you go to the macro sticky you can see how to make them.

If I understand it correctly XKeys works like a 2nd keyboard. It just extends how many keys you have available. Just think of it as a keyboard extender. Giving you 128 keys. You can also use a multiplier (hold down alt then press a key) so you can map a bunch of things to a single key on it, just like a keyboard.

Thanks for the information, but I believe we're talking about somewhat different things regarding the latency.

My question is whether X-Keys can accomplish the following:

    UseCase A:

    Begin recording on X-Keys
    press A on keyboard
    wait 5 seconds
    press A on keyboard
    wait 5 seconds
    press B on keyboard
    End recording on X-keys

    Press key for playback
    A (5 second delay) A (5 second delay) B

The sense that I got from your answer is that X-Keys is only capable of recording and sending key-combos (ie. Ctrl-A, Ctrl-B, etc.)

I'm not sure if it will do this or not. But this would be considered hardware macroing, a ban-able offense in many MMO's, although it is typically difficult for them to detect.

Their ps/2 X-keys cannot do that.

    You wont need it.

Unlike most MMOs WoW has got a high-powered piece of Spyware monitoring your computer, and accurate keystrokes is one of the things it pays attention to. Quite a few G15 users have been banned for having exactly 1.000 seconds between each of many pushes of a button (such as Arcane Explosion or Steady Shot), so obviously it works.

Oh and strictly speaking Warden (the spyware I mentioned) isn't spyware at all seeing as you gave them permission to run it on ur computer when you made your account. The effect of the program isn't unlike spyware, though.

The X-keys usb can do all of that, and I've been using mine just that way for at least a year with no issues. Raiding, especially is great, as an affliction lock you can automate tank and spank fights 100%. I feel zero guilt at this, boss encounters should be serious turing tests, not dumb repetitions of a key sequence.

If warden is really looking for timing of keystrokes, it doesn't seem that improbable you could add some minor variance to the thing (or alternate between two or three macros that do the same thing, but at different timings. You could save yourself quite a bit of RSI with this.
