    Default Help with Dual Booting - Im new to it all... (Wow Maximiser)

    Right, Currently I have 2 screens, and want to run 3 instance's of WoW at the same time on them, all off the same PC. Im trying to configure WoW Maximiser to do this.

    Currently, My left screen has a Resolution of 1280x1024, and my right screen has one of 1680x1050.

    I want my left screen to be split directly in 2, with a top half and a bottom half, and my right screen to be just by itself.

    What should the WoW Maximiser bat file look like in Notepad? Very confused and have tried messing around to get it to work already!!!

    Thanks!

    There are a few steps.

    First, check which monitor is the primary (display #1) and secondary (display #2) in the windows display settings. We'll say your right (1680x1050) is the #1 display, and the other is #2 for this example setup.

    Next, edit maximizer.ini files:
    In WoW folder 1, (the main character on the right screen), you need two settings in the maximizer.ini:
    display=1
    margin=0,0,0,0

    In WoW folder 2, (the top character on the left display), you need these settings in maximizer.ini:
    display=2
    margin=0,512,0,0

    In WoW folder 3, (the bottom character on the left display), you need these settings in maximizer.ini:
    display=2
    margin=512,0,0,0

    Finally, you'll need to set the in-game resolutions.. there's a line in this file (around line #10) that sets the in-game resolution..
    WoW1/WTF/config.wtf:
    Where WoW1 is the main character's install folder, edit this line (something like gfxSetResolution) to 1680x1050
    WoW2/WTF/config.wtf & WoW3/WTF/config.wtf:
    Where WoW2 & WoW3 are the two alt character install folders, set to 1280x512

    Load up each instance of WoW using Maximizer.exe.

    Definitely going to 4-box Diablo 3 after testing the beta for how well this would work.

    I'm in pretty much the same boat as you are only difference is my main monitor is 1600x1200. I split my 2 accounts on the 1280 at first, however it didn't look very good like that. They were terribly squashed. Was that because I forgot to set the resolution?

    My .ini's work, and look pretty much exactly like that, but I didn't know I had to set the custom resolution, I thought thats what maximizer was for.

    You need to do both - set maximizer.ini margins AND the in-game resolution in the config.wtf file. WoW Maxmizer just maximizes a window (removes title bars & borders) in a given area of the monitor. This means that it'll stretch the current resolution to fit the window, without retaining the correct aspect ratio (proportions). You need to edit the config.wtf file to let the game display propertly proportioned UI and graphics within that given window.

    As an example, I tried running all 5 windows on my 1920x1200 monitor using 5 stacked windows at 1920x240. The perspective looked perfect - nothing was squished or distorted, but it just wan't very playable with the lack of view area for my main character, and opening bags was a nightmare. There was simply too much wasted space on the sides of the characters. I then tried this format:
    2 top windows at 860x600 each.
    3 bottom windows at 640x600 each.
    Again, perspective was perfect, but I just didn't feel like there was enough room available on my main character. That's when I decided to bite the bullet and just use dual-view on my two monitors.

    If you try to fit two WoW windows using maximizer in one 1280x1024 monitor without changing the config.wtf file from one of the standard resolutions, the game will distort as it attempts to fit a 4:3 or 16:10 resolution into a 2:3 or 8:3 window. Changing the config.wtf to the correct (exact window size) resolution will prevent this distortion.
