Hello,
First post here. Used to check in here a few years back when a lot of people ran with the venerable Q6600. I also remember that even then, when some quad core users were struggling, there were some reports of people running five accounts well just with a dual core. It was probably the early Wolfdale chips.

My question is does anyone who has actually tried it know how a good dual core chip of today like the AMD 560 will fair? I should also be able to overclock it upwards of 4.0 Ghz.

I can run it with either Win XP 32 bit, or Win 7 32 or 64 bit. I can use either 4 or 8 gigs ddr3 1600 ram. The video card will be at the low end an 8800GT 512, and at the high end a 560 Ti 1 GB. All components already on hand; only the chip hasn't been purchased. Just not sure what configuration I would use because of other computer projects across multiple machines as well.

If the consensus is, "sadly, sorry, no. Tried it, didn't work. Couldn't keep above 30 fps on my main...Had great components all around but two cores couldn't keep up." Then, does anyone have experience with a tri-core? And if it simply must be a quad, how should an AMD 955 BE hold up?

Thanks extra for any helpful comments, not sure if I will ever fully make the plunge into Multi-boxing, but want to square away a good machine for when and if I do. God knows, I've always wanted to try it.
