Default Time to add in a healer

Oh I am having so much fun with my x4 mages, all arcane atm, levelling beautifully through BGS, topping charts often.

sadly this weekend its AV and not winning so much damn it. But its so much damn fun, really is.

So now I think i am ready to try and add in my priest, which is going to be one challenge for me no doubt.

Never played a healing class to begin with, used the priest as shadow and left it at 74 and never touched it since.

Now my mages are lvl 73 waiting for them too hit 74 then want to introduce the priest as a healer.

Now this is where I am at a loss... i understand I need certain mods like grid, maybe cliche ? healbot ?
What I am stumped on is this...

I use 1 of my mages as the main, other 3 are slaves, so when I pull a healer into my group and I am playing on my mage how the heck am I going to get my priest to heal my toon or toons while in the mage screen.

how are you guys accomplishing this ? Could someone point me into some easy guides or offer your suggestions ? Please remember I am still new too boxing but making progress slowly but surely

Get Healbot if you decide to use a mod. Since you have no experience with healing it will be far simpler to get going and use.

As a healer I prefer Grid because I can customize it to suit my needs and can see so much more through the use of indicators. I usually don't use Grid until I start raiding though. I just use Healbot up to that point.

To just be able to toss out some heals while multiboxing Healbot is just fine. I've also used Vuhdo and it's nice as well. I'd put Vuhdo in the middle between Healbot and Grid/Clique as far as complexity.

If you spec right priest has aoe healing.

Otherwise you can just make 5 maco's as well and tie to 5 different keyboard keyd which is as fast as point and click.

    /target Mage 1
    /cast Fast Healing Spell
    etc.

I havn't used grid etc. so they may well be superior I don't know.

Although 4 mages and a Priest is smart having one tank makes healing less complex cause you lead with the tank and draw fire to the tank and you can thus place a /target tank /cast heal macro in with your other one press dps macros. Not to mention resto shaman healing going to be even better in 4.1.

Thats why I suggest resto shaman, 3 mage, Pal tank cause then you can "aoe heal" with chain heal and you can cast the earth thing and riptide on the tank and your healing is very very very easy. But CoH is also very powerfull and I think shadow priest dps is better then ele shaman for times you need it.

Yep I have the 4 mages for bgs and just nuking.
I have a pally tank but mages need to level more so I brought my old priest into it so it can level with the mages. Shammy is level 80 as well, mages are now almost 78

I tried using healbot working well tho Im leading with the priest usin ghealbot, not really the way i want to play it but it works for now.

I would expect that you will have issues with cloth burners if you use a priest, turn your tanking pally into dualspeced imo..

    happy lvl'in
Wondering what now will be the new pew pew class....

I know a lot of the veterans use the click healing method, but I never could get comfortable with that method. turning and healing was my first issue.. you are either using your mouse to turn or you are clicking to heal, not both simultaneously. taking my eyes off of whats going on around me to select the correct character to heal also made me a bit apprehensive. I currently use a Naga mouse (Razor) and with a 5 man group I have 1 2 3 5 6 setup for healing individual characters with *shift* , *ctrl*, and *alt* for different heals and 4 for a OH NO button to mass heal the whole group at once.
