made it to cata!

I finally made it to the Cata zones. I started in Mount Hyjal. Unfortunately I have to do collection quests now. So far there havent been any that were too horrible to finish. 78-80 seemed to take forever. I need to learn some quick way to do those two levels. =/

I bought a few 78-80 cata greens off the AH to make sure the team each had 26k health at least before I got to Hyjal. 81 Horde are very easy to kill. Thats all I've run into so far. Unfortunately the vast majority fly away the instant they see red.

Like I said, 78-80 took a very long time. After just a couple hours of questing I'm already halfway to 81.

Cataclysm zones aren't too bad for leveling boxed.
The druids did every quest in Hyjal, Vashj'ir, Deep, and Uldum.
The DK's/Pally skipped a chunk of Vashj'ir and did some of Twilight Highlands.

My knock on Cataclysm is how linear it is.
You cannot go to hub B, until quest hub A sends you there.
Aside from that, the level pace is fast and the collections (which you cannot really avoid) aren't too terrible.

You can basically choose one of the zones to skip, and do most/all of the others.
You're best off (from the point of view of leveling speed) to immediately move to the next zone as soon as you qualify: Deepholm (at 82nd), Uldum (at 83rd), Twilight Highlands (at 84th).

Some of the quests benefit greatly from a macro.

Here's what I recommend for the easiest leveling from 80-85:

1. Vash (Underwater Zone) - Do the zone until you get the seahorse mount.
2. Hyjal - Do quests until you ding 82
3. Uldum - Do quests until you ding 83
4. Deepholm - Do all the quests, unlocking the Therazane dailies along the way. When you ding 84
5. Twilight Highlands - Unlock the Dragonmaw daily quests
6. Do Therazane & Dragonmaw (skip the food collection quest) dailies until you ding 85.
