[WoW] Best PvE Setup

I'm thinking 1 Paladin as the main, with 3 Elemental Shamans and 1 Restoration shaman following.
Would the resto shaman be a waste? Not sure what I will need in the way of healing there, or if 4x heal totem plus pally self healing will be enough.

Other thoughts are to drop one or more of the Shaman for Mages. You lose the stacking totems, but gain higher DPS. Of course if I did that, I would need to keep 1 Shaman resto for heals. So that would be 1 pally, 1 resto shaman, and 3 mages.

This is pretty much for PvE only. I'm looking to run heroics solo.

Cant say anything for heroics, but right now im running everything with all my shammies specced dmg. Eventually I guess that speccing 1 resto would be not such a bad idea, but perhaps if you just run pve you might want to try out a druid/priest (aoe healing for the priest and imba hots for the druid).

What about the idea of dropping one of the shammies for a mage?

Shamans have chain heal which is one of the most unique and best heals in the game. Its not spamable but i think its quite useful for multiboxers.
Depending on how u run alot of the time, make sure your characters are in the chain distance from your pally and you wont has as much problems.

What are you talking about, not spammable? You can spam chain heal as long as you like. That's what I do in raids. I spam chain heal like my life depended on it.

Yes, you can level entirely with 4 ele shammies and a prot pally. Will healing stream totem stacked be "enough" healing through bosses? no. Through trash? maybe. But remember, the more heals a pally gets, the more mana they can use for generating threat. So don't look at it as a long term solution to all your healing needs.

You will need to heal during bosses. You will not need a dedicated healer to do so, but it does make it easier. (see my post on threat)

I was able to level most 1-70 instances without a specced or dedicated healer. Just throw a couple heals via the ele shammies between dps'ing is enough for bosses. 60-70 WILL be hard without a dedicated healer. Impossible? no. Will you wipe? probably.

I say try it out without a specced healer and see how well you generate and hold threat. If you're having problems, spec one resto and see how you like it in comparison.

Vyndree, thanks for that info. I have a 70 resto shaman already, thats part of the reason I asked.

I may do exactly what you did - level the pally on the same acct as the reso sham and then break her off when they close in on 70.

Any combination of only 2-3 classes I would hardly call "The best pve setup". You'd clearly be specialized in one area (no cc/all nuke for example). I have a hard time seeing a pally/shammy team going very far in heroics for example. Sure you'll probably be able to finish most heroic instances eventually, but it will take alot of time and alot of wipes. For instance, my first trip through slave pens heroic took less than an hour. In crappy, freshly-dinged-70 gear I might add. You can get away from this problem if your tank is your main character in a raiding guild and has 20k armor and health of course. I recommend the setup I have myself naturally. Pally, lock, shammy, mage, priest. You just have tons and tons of options, and you can take on anything, even in bad gear.

I must admit I have put my pve team on hold for a while. Playing the shammy team is just a total riot, and I can not WAIT for level 70, which is right around the corner now. Ellay, I'm coming for you

I'm at 50 with the pally + 4 elemental shammy and every instance has been cake so far. Princess threw me a couple of times before I noticed she's IMMUNE TO NATURE DMG ZOMG! Once I figured that out though, it was just pacing between frost shocks and it wasn't hard at all.

Now I'm going to start using my last 20 talent points down the Resto line so I get some healing improvements and that 5% crit to healing and Lightning bolt.

I would argue, experience obviously limited, that having the power of 4 elemental shammys (4x totem of wrath, etc.) will help offset the minimal CC you have and allow burning through of enemies before healing is really the issue.

Vyndree made a good point in here SL post though, the issue wasn't necessarily the amount of healing so much as it was the aggro issue... time will tell for me. Regardless though, it's not hard to switch once you hit 70 so run until you hit the wall.

The idea of 5 different classes boggles me. I think if you lined up on every fight just right and it went to plan you could work it pretty well, but I'd expect a lot of wipes when you get disoriented and are burning time trying to get something CC'd when you could've just killed it. There are some on here with 5 class setups doing well though, so I guess just go with your mental ability. Mine is limited to 2 classes.

BTW Vyndree - I've been thinking about the Inciter fight since I read your post. It's really hysterical actually, in that fight you truly are your own worst enemy. The better your gear, the higher your crit, the faster you die. The Princess fight though gave me an idea, what if you build up your nature resist to a nice, stout level? Then the only thing you can hit yourself with are shocks, and the game AI probably won't take that into consideration, plus they're on 6 second timers. I'd think if you could get your nature resist up high enough, and use shields despite their stats, you could actually get through that pretty easy. Your thoughts?

Excellent idea. However, your pally is still going to be major OOM after each MC thanks to a blue rage bar instead of red... But it would definitely help (NR gear = less +dmg, and more resists).

That's the best idea for Slabs I've heard yet.
