Thread: Noob questions

    Default Noob questions

Ok, so I got my party of 5 going and finally tried a few instances at lvl 20, Didnt do too bad but I had a major problem with healing.

WARNING - I am not a programmer whatsoever and am still figuring out all these commands... so I am pretty much a moron. Please keep the answers simple so my thrid grade mind can actually understand it. I see some of your guys answer to these questions and one would need a degree in engineering to extrapulate the answer.

I do not PVP. I use Innerspace and ISBoxer in WoW
    Paladin
    Shaman
    Priest
    Mage
    Warlock

The problem I have is when my Mage draws aggro and takes damage I have to switch to the priest or shaman screen and then toss a heal on him. is there any way (a plugin or something), from the main screen, to make my healer or healers heal toons that need it without havign to switch to their screen?

I know this is a long shot, but is there any "trick" to the collection quests like "Collect 15 Hides and return them"? Is there a way for all 5 to share one loot? When you play 5 toons this takes for freakin ever! I know, you tell me just avoid them, but on the Worgen and Goblin starting zones you can't and some of them give some good exp/loot and are part of a progression.

Is there anyway to make my team always face the MOB my main has targeted? For example, we stop, everyone casts their nuke and it dies in front of us. Then a mob attacks from behind and I have to run over past my team in order for them to face me and then cast... I know, small issue but I just want to know.

I have read the entire ISBoxer site and Wiki and just about every thread here. Sorry if I missed the answers. Thanks in advance for your help!

I like to use Grid (also need Grid Custom Layout) for click based healing from any window.

    You need the addons:
    - Grid
    - Grid Custom Layouts
    - Clique

    Grid is the base addon.
Grid Custom Layouts, gets you the ability to do non-standard sorts.
Clique is an addon to interpret clicks as heals.

    Open Grid
    Go to advanced layouts.
Enter like this, replacing ToonA,ToonB, etc with your toons names.
    You want no spaces anywhere.
NAME, NAME, and NR are case sensitive.
All of your toons from all teams, on line one.
Line two gets us toons from the first eight groups, alphabetically sorted, and not repeating anything already done (such as your toons in column one, also alphabetically sorted).

    ToonA,ToonB,ToonC,ToonD,ToonE;NAME
    1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8;5/8;NAME;NR

    Save that.

In IS Boxer Toolkit, you can check the keybind to open the configuration tool in the game.
In the top pane, click the name of your character set.
Ensure there is a check mark in the bottom right pane, on the third option.
"In-Game IS Boxer GUI toggle hotkey".
Note what the hotkey is; I've changed mine to Alt + Ctrl + / as that is what Zanthor had suggested in the original Zero to Hero thread.

Once you're in game, press that key combination (whatever yours is).
Go to the Repeater Region tab.
In the drop down (click the arrow to the right of the target box).
Select the slot that your healer is in.
    Check the KVM box.
    Then click create repeater region.
Drag the repeater region, so the red (inner portion) covers the entire Grid frame.
It's good to be in a group with your team at this point, so you know the size of the frame.
Once your repeater region covers the desired area, click Sync and then Save it as Auto (which is the default).

Then region swap to you healer toon.
Open up the spell book. "P".
    Navigate to your healing tab.
Note there is an extra tab on the spell book now.
Click that, which is the Clique keybinding window.
I like to use Alt + Left click, Alt + Right click, Ctrl + Left click, Ctrl + Right click.
Anyway, mouse over a spell, and click your desired click type.
Thereafter, clicking that mouse/modifier combo, will result in the correct heal type as you just assigned, provided your mouse is over a unit frame.
Close Clique when you're done, binding your clicks.

    What we have now.
All your toons are in column one of Grid.
The rest of the BG/Raid is in columns to the right of that.
You have an alphabetical sort, so the Grid is the same for every toon.
You can use the IS Boxer GUI toggle to resize the repeater region (just Sync and Save afterwards) to change it to cover an entire raid if you want.
From any window, you can mouse over the frame of the toon that needs healing.
And will have a fake mouse on the target (healers) screen.
The clicks you have set with Clique will be interpreted as heals on that target.
And it won't change your target on your main/current toon, so won't interfere with your targeting when killing things.
    EverQuest I: Bard / Enchanter / Druid / Wizard / 2x Magician.
    Diablo III: 4x Crusader & 4x Wizard.

I also use grid, grid custom layouts, clique, and isboxer's repeater region for click healing. It takes a while to get it set up but once you do its amazingly powerful. Just follow Ualaa's directions.

As far as facing mobs, the short answer is do what youre already doing since you have only one melee toon unless the shaman in enhancement. You can set up Interact With Target alog with click to move but this will break follow and isnt worth using except on melee slaves or in mass fear situations.

Hey, Sorry to ninja the thread, but imo it's better than posting a new one!

    I installed Grid Custom Layouts, and used the code Ualaa provided;

    Traegun,Traegan,Traegon,Traegen;NAME
    1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8;5/8;NAME;NR

However, when I go into grid and apply it, The names are ordered Traegan, Traegen, Traegon, and Traegun. I thought they didn't change to alphabetical when you have the exact toon names down? Is there something i'm missing here?

    Thanks!

The ;NAME, tells Grid to sort alphabetically.

If you're running four toons and not five...
I would consider a four by ten grid, instead of a five by eight.
That way, column one would always be your toons, and only your toons.

    Something like:

    Traegun,Traegan,Traegon,Traegen;NAME
    1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8;4/10;NAME;NR
    EverQuest I: Bard / Enchanter / Druid / Wizard / 2x Magician.
    Diablo III: 4x Crusader & 4x Wizard.

I don't mind the 5 layout, in fact i'd prefer it for random dungeons and what not, but it also doesn't show me any other players in my group.. right now i'm in a group and I can't see the fifth player on grid at all, do you know what's up? I'm lost

Under Layout, you have different configurations which can be displayed.

I've saved my configuration as, "Boxing".
And have set "Boxing" to be displayed in all configurations: Solo, Party, 10-man, 25-man, and Battlegrounds.

With the two line custom layout, you're forcing your toons to appear in column one.
    And nothing else.
Then you're putting toons from groups 1-8, into the remaining columns.
With someone in your party, but not listed on the first line, they should appear in column two.
    EverQuest I: Bard / Enchanter / Druid / Wizard / 2x Magician.
    Diablo III: 4x Crusader & 4x Wizard.

Is it possible to use custom layouts as well as showing others on the first line?

You can use whatever custom layout you want.

If your custom layout is only one line.
Then everything is done according to one set of sorting.
Therefore everyone (with 5 or fewer toons) would be in column one, if you use a 5x8 grid.

A very simple method to sort is:
    sort=name;

That gets you all names alphabetically listed.
    EverQuest I: Bard / Enchanter / Druid / Wizard / 2x Magician.
    Diablo III: 4x Crusader & 4x Wizard.
