Default Multiple screens - extra clients exiting.

I noticed when I had a few clients open with one on the main monitor and a couple on the second monitor that some of them would just randomly exit. Anyone else have this issue? Is it the second monitor?

Clients were at 800x600 with the lowest settings. It didn't seem like a crash. One client would just exit while the others kept running. Any ideas?

Check the Windows event log (application log) and see if you see any app crashes in the Rift executable(s). That should tell you if it has detected an abnormal exit or not. If you don't see any, they either purposefully designed the client this way or there is an unplanned "normal" exit case that is a bug but doesn't process as a bug in the client's error handlers.

[edit] Also, share what platform and multiboxing software/hardware you're using when you see this as it might help the community identify where potential problems exist.

Hopefully my problem is related to OP, not trying to derail thread!

I had a similar problem with windows closing or not swapping correctly once they opened and had a character logged in.

I used Lax's walkthrough for ISBoxer FTL in RIFT, set it up for two clients on two screens on one computer. Window swapping worked like a charm when first setup halfway thru the final beta session, then stopped working completely shortly afterwards.

Clicking the second window would cause it to disappear, but the sound would still be playing like it was still the foreground window, but no taskbar thing to click and bring it back, and not even showing in the alt-tab menu (I don't think it was there, I tried everything I could think of to find that missing window).
I tried every option combo there is in the "Window Layout" menus inside ISBoxer, but never got them back to swapping the way my WoW windows always did, putting the “hot” window in the main area while saving the other window in the second area and keeping that second window open, running and clickable.

The best I could get, less than an hour before the end of beta, was for the windows to be locked in their frames, never moving but still becoming the focused window (sound, mouse, char mvmt via keypresses) when I clicked on that window, and successfully changing focus to the second window when I clicked on that one. This would work once or twice: then when clicking to switch windows, the main window would place itself on the part of my display that was not part of the ISBoxer “regions” for window placement, resize itself to that screen while retaining the wrong aspect ratio, and cease to accept window swapping requests at all. It would remain clickable, which only allowed me to easily close it and try again.

I even deleted the character set, and the window layout that was generated through the wizard, and started over from a clean slate, but I had the same issue with the windows not swapping correctly right from the start.

I’m hoping someone (Lax? J) will see this and have a suggestion on how to fix it. The live client is different from the beta, since there was a full re-download so maybe this won’t be an issue anymore

I have no idea if the OP is even using ISBoxer.. As far as your issue, though, sounds like you're hitting the multi-monitor "maximize" bug that I have a fix for and am trying to get someone besides me to test to see if it solves their issue. Come by the ISBoxer Chat room and I can set you up with it

I had the same issue. Al through beta, every team i made, the regions swapped perfect. One day i logged in and they had behavior like what you describe. Now i had not changed any settings in game or ISBoxer, so i thought the game had patched something and screwed me up. Lax told me to check and make sure each instance of Rift was in window mode. Sure enough, after hours of deleting teams, making many different window layouts and pulling my hair out (NERD RAGE!!), the game had in fact changed back to full screen mode! OMG i felt like a dumb ass! But Lax saved the day again!

Whats funny is, every time I have an issue with ISBoxer, i log into isboxer chat and explain my issue and Lax has some very simple fix that I should have thought of myself ( i never do ) I imagine what hes thinking when he sees me enter the chat room " OMG, heres Lyon again, hes going to nerd rage about how he cant get something working again and that his life is now ruined! Ill tell him to make sure caps lock is not turned on..ill get a few minute pause and he will come back and tell me thats was it and I'm his Hero!"

I didn't know what to make of this before, but I have the exact same symptoms today.

Occasionally, when I Swap windows, the window will not resize and stay in the top-left corner, while the rest of the monitor will be filled with garbage textures. When I swap it back, the game works fine (in monitor 2, where that window normally resides).

Now, if I click on the same window that was acting up to Focus it, and THEN Swap it, it swaps fine.

Also of note, in windows that this happens, the FPS overlay in the top-left no longer displays, and these windows also display a Virtual Cursor when using Mouse Broadcasting (weird, huh?). Normally, no Virtual Cursor is ever displayed in Rift while Mouse Broadcasting, but this bug somehow makes that work!

The only way to fix this is to close that instance and relaunch it via ISBoxer.

**EDIT - Lyon, are you saying you got this fixed? My issue is not happening all the time, it just happened a couple times, to one or 2 windows, seemingly randomly in the middle of a session. All of my RIFT instances are set in-game as Windowed Mode, with VSYNC off.

Lax, I will drop by the chat room tomorrow and see if you are talking about the same issue I was explaining above.

As a side note, don't ask why but at 12.30am i decided to try again. I just now wiped all the old char sets out of my ISBoxer, setup the new path for RIFT Live and set up a new team for the bards...... perfect window swapping. The only thing different that I can tell is that the game is set for "windowed" rather than what I previously had it set for "windowed (fullscreen)".

I hope the fix was really that simple, the reference inthe previous post about the windowed mode vs fullscreen made me think about trying it and it seems to be ok for right this moment. *crosses fingers*

The fix I mentioned is available to all as of last night. Update Inner Space to build 5388, first of all. (just close and restart and let it patch up)

Then, grab the ninja patch of ISBoxer 38 (it will be a pushed update later this weekend for whoever doesn't download it manually). Direct link: http://www.lavishsoft.com/downloads/...erSuite.38.exe

After installing both updates, do a fresh Export and you should no longer experience this issue

I did not read the OPs post right. This problem your describing is not what was happening to me the other day. My windows would launch correctly ( 1 full size region on screen1 and 4 small windows on sceen2 ) But once i swapped a region , all my rift regions would end up on my second screen and i could not get any of them back to my main screen.

This issue your describing started happening to me last night, EXACTLY how you describe. I ended up having to log off (wify was home).

I just had the issue where when i swapped a screen it only showed a position of the region in the upper left corner and the rest of the region was grayed out ( like locked explained ) I got it all back working by re launching. a few minutes later both screens turned white.. had to reboot.
