    Default Interrupts and CC - DPS Toggle?

    Howdy,

    So I did some spot checking and came up short.. I likely just suck at searching, I know there are some posts on here where people detail their whole setup. Ill have to look more when i get home from work. Anyways.

    So for those of you who are using 1 or a couple spam buttons for attacks, how do you manage your interrupts and CC? I am just coming back and putting a little time in and trying to "update" my setup to make it better so maybe Ill stop getting spanked in dungeons.

    Lets say for example I am using 4 as my single target main castsequence button. 5 might be an AOE button, whatever. So im fighting and hitting 4 444444444444 fighting mobs. Im probably healing via repeater regions and some mouse clickiness.

    Oh crap, boss has an interruptable spell coming, i want char 1 to interrupt it. What do I do? In the above situation the only thing I can really do is STOP DPS on everybody so I can hit the interrupt button for that character.

    Similar situation with CC.

    I was thinking maybe you could do a toggle button per character via isboxer. Like F1 - F5 (which i dont use for anything). Toggle their dps on and off. So I go to a boss and I know that char 4 is going to have to do interrupts at some point. Im fighting 4444444444 interrupt time, i hit F4... everyone else keeps dpsing but char 4 stops. I hit his interrupt key, then f4 again and he joins back in.

    Thats the only thing I can really think of. You guys are all smarter than me, wondered if anybody had a simpler / easier / cleaner way.

    Thanks.

    If you have multiple toons with interrupts, you can setup a key to round robin if you're using ISBoxer, which it sounds like.

    http://isboxer.com/wiki/Round-robin

    I you just want to only do a spell on one toon, then I'd suggest binding a macro on one toon to a key combo like CTRL-ALT-SHIFT-Something, then pick a more simple key like F1 or something and have ISBoxer setup to send the CTRL-ALT-SHIFT-something to only that toon's window when you press F1. The macro in WoW should be something like:
    /stopcasting
    /cast Wind Shear (or whatever interrupt you use)

    I'm sure there are other ways to do this, but this is what came to mind.

    You could have a macro on a specific toon, whether it is an interrupt or a crowd control.

    #show
    /stopcasting
    /cast Whatever

    If you're using IS Boxer/HKN, you could go with a toggle.
    The key has two steps/states.
    One step disables the normal action for a specific character and enables an alternate action.
    The other reverts behavior to the default.
    Depending on how your DPS is set up, you could have the interrupt/cc target the focus and when enabled prioritize over dps, to be used once every "10" seconds or whatever.

    Let's say you're using IS Boxer.
    Your default spam key is "1".
    When you press "1", a bunch of things happen.

    Step 1 (Press 1, or Odd presses)
    - Do Mapped Key FTL Assist Me, Target: Current Window
    --- Your slaves acquire the same target as your main.
    - Do Mapped Key CC/Interrupt, Target: All Windows.
    --- This key is deactivated by default, but can be toggled on, on a per character basis (ie a toggle per toon).
    --- Default state is "off".
    - Keystroke Action, Output Key: "1"

    Step 2 (Press 2, or Even presses)
    - Do Mapped Key: FTL Assist Me, Target: Current Window
    --- Your slaves acquire the same target as your main.
    - Do Mapped Key CC/Interrupt, Target: All Windows.
    --- This key is deactivated by default, but can be toggled on, on a per character basis (ie a toggle per toon).
    --- Default state is "off".
    - Keystroke Action, Output Key: "2"

    So when you spam "1", you get the slaves to assist the main, and alternate between "1" and "2" on subsequent presses of the key.

    Then you have a round-robin key.
    Each step has your other characters target the active window.
    And has one of them set the target as their Focus.
    If it is an npc, you can place a raid icon over the target too.

    This sets your focus, for the interrupt/cc effect.

    Define your CC/Interrupt mapped key.
    - Keystroke Action, sends "3" to the Current Window.

    In Warcraft drag your CC or Interrupt for the encounter onto the "3" key.
    This will be a macro, with stopcasting and whatever effect, targeted at your Focus.

    If you want, you could get more complex.
    Like two steps.
    1: Send "3" to the current window.
    2: Do nothing, for 100 seconds.
    x: reset to step 1, "12" seconds from the first press.

    Create a toggle per toon.
    So five keys in a five box set up.

    Each has its own hotkey.
    Two steps.
    Step one enables the CC/Interrupt mapped key for the given toon.
    Step two disables it for the toon.

    Aside from leveling and gold accumulation, I've not done any PvE this expansion.

    I initially decided to concentrate on PvP.
    But to be a lot more casual this expansion, than previous ones.
    With the feral nerfs in 4.0.6, my in-game time has been rather sporadic.

    In WotLK, we did not need CC/Interrupts for most of the heroics.
    So that wasn't really added to my repetoire.
    Have not needed it for five-box questing.

    If I decide to take a team into heroics.
    I'll use something very similar to that.

    I simply have my interrupt on round-robin. for my PvE Pally + 4 Shaman team.

    The CC button is right next to my DPS spam key, so when I need to interrupt something I simply tap it once and continue my DPS spam. My CC is a macro that does

    /stopcasting
    /cast Wind Shear

    Pretty basic and this works very well in fights like Baron Ashbury.

    With HKN I combined Toggles with Regions so I could set up things like If mouse is here, this toon does this, these toons do that and these other guys do something else. Here's the layout of my regions

    Here's what each region does when I press 2 while my mouse is over it -

    These are mouseover regions where my mouse actually moves over to my healer's window for true mouseover healing.

    1. NS+GHW from healer, Word of Glory from Ret, normal DPS from all others.
    2. GHW + WoG, Normal DPS
    3. HS + WoG, Normal DPS

    These are all regions where my mouse does not move, it only triggers alternate macro calls.
    {4 and 5 are actually 5 individual regions each}
    4. Paladins cleanse, all else DPS
    5. Shamans cleanse, all else DPS
    6. Round Robin Interrupts, all else DPS
    7. All blow Cooldowns
    8. resto shaman purges, all else DPS
    9. Art of War proc {display, mouseover to use} everyone else DPS
    10. All toons with a procable ability try to use the proc Everyone else DPS
    11. Maelstrom Weapon {display, mouseover to use} Everyone else DPS

    Basically, it's a matter of

    Code:
    <If MouseIsOverWindowRect WoW1 40 55 54 370> // If my mouse is in this location
    	<SendLabel w2>  // Send my healer {aka w2}
    		<Clickmouse Noclick> // my mouse
    			<Key LCtrl 1> // and this key {in this case /cast Nature's Swiftness /cast [@mouseover] Greater Healing Wave}
    	<SendLabel w4> // send my ret paladin {aka w4}
    		<Key Alt 8> // this key { /cast [@party1] Word of Glory}
    	<SendLabel w1, w3, w5> // and everyone else
    		<DoHotkey Hotkey Alt F9> // does normal DPS
    Where <DoHotkey Hotkey Alt F9> is my multistep DPS key.

    The same thing can be used for intterupts -

    Code:
    <Else If MouseIsOverWindowRect WoW1 700 20 48 61> // if mouse is here
    		<SendLabel w1, w2, w3, w4, w5> // everyone
    			<DoHotkey Hotkey Alt 9> // does Interrupt
    where <DoHotkey Hotkey Alt 9> is a multistep macro like above that uses interrupt keys instead of all DPS spells.

    Code:
    <Hotkey Alt 9>
    <Toggle>
    	<SendLabel w4> //Ret paladin {aka w4}
    		<Key Numpad1> // Intterupt spell {/castsequence [@party1target] reset=7 Rebuke, Hammer of Justice, Arcane Torrent /Rebuke}
    			<Cancel>
    	<SendLabel w1, w2, w3, w5> // everyone else
    			<DoHotkey Hotkey Alt F9> // normal DPS
    <Toggle>
    	<SendLabel w2> //Resto sham {aka w2}
    		<Key Numpad1> // Intterupt spell {/cast [@party1target] Wind Shear}
    			<Cancel>
    	<SendLabel w1, w3, w4, w5> // everyone else
    			<DoHotkey Hotkey Alt F9> // normal DPS

    Thanks everyone for the ideas.

    I tried to put what you were saying to practice Ualaa but im not seeing how to setup a keymap and then disable it. Im working off a fresh-from-running-the-wizard build where i have 1-= under FTL dps mapped keys.

    Create a new mapped key.
    Give it a hotkey you'll remember.
    Give it two steps.

    Step 1
    Keymap Actions > New Mapped Key State Action > Set the Target, Keymap, Mapped Key, and State to On or Off.
    Step 2
    Do the same, but set the On/Off to the reverse.

    I setup a spammable round-robin key (do-not-advance-for-X-seconds). When something needs interrupting I spam that key ("R" in my case) while also hitting the DPS spam. For instance: I'll hit the interrupt first, so it turns from 4444444 to R4R4R4R4 until interrupt fires). This is very similar to daanji's method but I avoid the stop-casting.

    Most fights that have interrupts that are vital to catch are either time based or have a nice long warning, so I'll just spam my DPS key while also spamming my interrupt key - since windshear is off the GCD there is very little DPS lost. While providing slightly more control over timing as opposed to just weaving in an interupt every 1.5 seconds or every 2 seconds etc.
