It's essentially a spam bot protection as said above. I often manually adjust people that post because it's then obvious they're a legitimate account. I've missed this thread until now because of the terrible thread subject. For future reference, be quite descriptive and even call me out directly if there is something you want me to see. Or even PM me. Hop in IRC and say my nick in channel. Hell, IM me. I'm pretty accessible.

I had seen the announcement (and think its placement at the top of each forum is fine -- I saw it right away the first time I couldn't post and went looking for why ) -- what I meant was mentioning it was a spam protection measure.
