priest+mage AoE group

When I had RAF I leveled up a group with pally, 2 mages, 2 priest. My plan was to make them an aoe-group using consecreation (to hold aggro) and spam arcane explosion and holy nova to rip mobs apart.

Haven't played them for 6 months now and feel a bit curious to try them out again, now at lvl 60+. Is my plan still possible or have the aoe damage on these spells been changed a lot since then?

I think it would probably be easier to just kill the target from like 30 yards away in 1 shot and then repeat. The AOE stuff isn't that great, and takes a lot of mana (at least at the high levels). My 5x 85 mages can't really AOE any elites down, I can AOE some mobs, but they sit and beat on me while I do it. So I have to drink afterwards to get my health up. So it's not even close to worth it for me at a high level. Just drains all your mana, and health, and if you get unlucky and all the mobs target one person you can easily die.

Then I'll keep this group on hold (or delete it). I alread have two other groups good at killing single targets at range and don't need a third.

Before TBC you could easily farm the gnolls in Westfall to level. Good luck and trying that now
