    Default Hi-Sec mining & ISK

    Hey guys,

Just a quick question. Is it possible to make enough ISK a month from 6 Hulks & 2 Orca's (2 seperate mining fleets in Hi-Sec) to cover the cost of PLEX's for 10 accounts?

It's cheaper for me to buy a copy of the game for £10 & reffering a new acc, than paying the £13 a month subscription fee.

Was just wondering if Hi-Sec mining is viable?

Honestly, I dont think youll find the roids have enough yield up there to support that much mining. Its one of the reasons im transitioning over to missions.

I agree with Redbeard. Though some hidden belts that are part of missions are well stocked.

My thoughts too, asteroid belts don't seem to last an hour with 4 rerievers going at them...

If that's the case then, is there a way to make low-sec mining a little less dangerous? Should I disband my Corp and join another that could offer me some protection? Or should I go with 6 Hulks, 1 Orca and 3 droid defence ships to offer protection?

It's a shame that Eve is so geared to PvP. I JUST WANT TO MINE, STOP SHOOTING ME

To answer more completely in case anybody new to eve is wondering... I dont know exactly how this works but anecdotally, the closer you get to 0.0, the more ore the roids have.

Correct me if im wrong anybody.

Once again, you are correct. The lower the security, the better the roids. In fact, not all 0.0 are the same. They actually have a hidden sec status that will go negative to -1. So a belt in a -0.3 system will be better than a belt in a -0.1 system.

The Ombey flat maps show the real sec status of the systems.

Another good site to use is http://evemaps.dotlan.net it will show true-sec + it will classify each system, there is an alpha-numerical value put on all, if not, most system that shows the roid types in that system.

    ....

In regards to highsec mining being viable to pay for 10 plexes. If you are mining 23/5 (maybe 6) you might be able to make enough to pay for 10, it really depends on density really. If you were always able to find a hidden highsec belt, those generally will tend to have a decent amount of ore to sell. I have not ran the numbers, but i guess i could sit down and really determine if its possible or not with all the freaking spreadsheets i have for the game.

    Cheers guys.

10 accounts is probably overkill, maybe I should stick with 6. 1 Orca, 4 Hulks and a business/hauler/defender toon.... This may be a more viable solution and could give me a chance to explore the trading side of the game too

Now the problem is, I really need to get a clue about this trading lark

i run 8 Toons total when playing.

depending on what i do they do various different roles.

Primarily for mining i run, 1 scout, 1 carrier (when in 0.0/or domi drone boat in highsec) for defense, then i run 1 Rorqual (or Orca depending on where i am with max boosting + Implant), then i have 5 Hulk miners.

I've been out in 0.0 so long, and i kind of miss high-sec to a degree, so i think its time i return to either my own corp/newbie corp/high-sec and have some other kind of fun

for Highsec mining i may turn the scout and defense guy into another miner, but im not siure i want to move them away from their current training timeline.

I also am getting into trading, i've found some pretty good methods to buy up ore and what not in highsec for cheap and then sell at market cost, its slowly builds up money, but once i get more skill points on my 2 trader characters who are training for it, i think i can do some money generating due to being able to use several freighters to move gear around.

This is basically what I'm setting up for. Run missions until I hit one with a bunch of rocks, then mine it out and move on to the next missions.
    Now playing: WoW (Garona)
