Getting interested. What's your history full of?

Yeah I knew about it already, just making fun of the people who get upset with people who spend money on a game to get more money in game. If that makes sense...

Here's what I mean, and WoW and Eve are completely different:

Eve player 1 - Just started a new character, bought a plex and sold it. Now I got some nice starting cash!!
Eve player 2 - Nice bro!

WoW player - Just bought some gold online, now I can finally get that damn recipe from the auction.
WoW retard - OMG LOL LOSER!!!

Sorry about the lack of replies from me, haha... Work has been a bit cumbersome.

This weekend I'll give the trials a go, and see how like them. I do understand that this game has a steeper learning curve, even more so with boxing.

But as far as I am concerned, WoW had no curve. Not until end game play, which was mostly.... "Don't step in shit here or there."

I'll see if I can make a post back about it later.

My Eve experience.

Downloaded the trial which seem to take quite a while. Finally got everything setup and started playing... Well... In about 20 minutes I realized this wasn't the game for me. Uninstalled.

Not really anything worth bragging about though, lol.

Anyway, I am starting the download tonight. And getting things patched up for my Friday night.

Yep that was my first EVE experience back in 2004. Tried it again 3 years later when they'd actually created some tutorial content as opposed to just throwing you straight in to deep space.

The tutorials are good for getting a nice collection of basic ships, and doing the epic arc will get you a cruiser.

This is definately a game where you have to do a lot of reading though. I think I spent about 3 days reading tutorials before I even made my first character. Thankfully they put a web browser right inside the game interface (in case you don't have a spare monitor for a proper one), so you can put all the handy sites into the bookmarks list there.

Something else to know is that unlike WoW, you have a very good chance of getting help in the chat channels. There are dedicated newbie help channels manned by volunteers, and the NPC corp you start out in will have a lot of helpful players too.

You also get some decent rep for doing the SOE epic arc - it can be repeated every six months too if you want to raise rep again later

Most important thing in EVE if you intend to stay: Join a player driven corp - be it mining/industrial/pvp/0.0/carebearing/whatever try to find a bunch of people you like to do stuff with and join them.

As a very beginner friendly empire corporation I can recommend EVE University (http://www.eveuniversity.org/) thus they have a policy to accept only one character per player (not per account) as a member.
