Default 80+ leveling question - group comps

I have a question for people who have the experience to answer with authority:

When leveling in cataclysm, is it easier to level 5x the same class (of anything) or are there still times the classic 1-3-1 group offers more advantages?

If you're questing, your composition won't matter at all.
    1x + 1x + 1x + 2x is as good as 5x.
It all comes down to your DPS macro, that doesn't have to be that complicated.

5x Shaman would rarely kill anything with 5x Lightning Bolt, but 10x (a second cast on each) would kill anything.
Conversely 5x Penance or 5x Smite, would drop almost anything, but the second press of the DPS key guaranteed a kill.
If the macro was Lightning Bolt + Shadow Bolt + Fireball + Penance + Wrath... one or two presses will kill whatever.

The only consideration, is everyone having some kind of a DPS spec, and contributing to the kill speed.

You'll likely need a Tank type for a lot of instances.
And then either three/four hybrid DPS who can heal.
Or three DPS who just DPS, along with a healer class/spec for healing.

Instancing is an option, and generally works better this way than with 5x DPS.
But a lot of 5x One-Class can do instances if you want.

Also bear in mind levelling in PvP as an alternate source of experience.

I level primarily on BG weekends or CtAs and so it is quite viable for the 'time : experience gain' ratio. I find doing 5 of one class much easier in PvP

I will agree with Ualaa though, both types of groups are viable for instances, dependant on your classes you choose. My favourite for levelling so far has been 1 prot, 4 ele shams with a resto spec for each

    PvP is pretty frustrating.
Anyone that runs around jumping, automatically makes IWT fail, which means melee teams are garbage unless you have Deathgrip.

BG chat constantly blames the boxer for anything and everything.
The average wow player is an asshole.
    That's basically the only explanation.

It's like those guys that cut you off driving and then finger you.
The few times you follow them for two or three blocks until you get a red light.
And then get out of your vehicle and walk to their driver door, they lock their door...
Not that that is really worth it, never know when the dipshit will have a gun or a knife.

Too easy to be an anonymous asshole.
People aren't like that in person, where there might be consequences.

I'm guessing BG/Raid chat off and emotes off is probably the best way to PvP.
Used to have the chat on... to see someone calling whatever is needed somewhere.
But its easier to just not see any of the shit.
And to farm honor kills in the middle, to stay in combat so they cannot report you and get you booted.
It doesn't result in wins, but if you play the BG Weekend or the Random, it is faster losses and some honor along the way.

Rofls I agree totally with most things you said!

I equate beginning to box in PvP to drawing a target on your head.

When your team wins, you don't get thanked.

When your team loses, it is entirely your fault

Prepare yourself for abuse EVERY time an objective is lost or destroyed.

On the other hand, it's very rewarding when things go right...but if you get your kicks from interaction with other players, positive interaction, then PvP levelling might not be for you

I love it myself. Great way to break monotony of levelling. I can't stand NR, couldn't go through quests again.

Now, to go request AV off from work...
