Default Should I be worried (3 hour ban?)

One of my 5 accounts received this email and my password was indeed reset. (I had to go to battle.net, retrieve password, and change it). I am smart enough not to click any links in what could be phishing emails. All account related stuff I did manually by going to the website and logging in.

Here was the email I received.

    Code:
    Account Name: <hidden account #2>

Account Action: 3 hour suspension and password reset
Reason for Action: In-Game Chat Policy Violation - Advertisement and Spamming

This suspension happened because one or more characters on the account were identified exchanging, or contributing to the exchange of, in-game property (items or gold) for ""real-world"" currency. This exchange process negatively impacts the World of Warcraft game environment by detracting from the value of the in-game economy.

To prevent further harm to the game and the account you use, the account has been suspended for 3 hours and the password was reset. You do not need to reply to this email, as the account will automatically become available again once the 3-hour suspension period has ended. It may take up to one hour for our system to generate and send the new password. If you have not received a password within one hour of this message's delivery, please check your Spam, Junk, or Suspect Mail folders. If you are still unable to locate the email containing your new password, please contact us using this form: http://us.blizzard.com/support/webform-us.xml or use the password recovery function on https://us.battle.net/account/support/login-support.xml.
The problem is - I was actually using my accounts around this period. Around the time I got this email, I logged off the temp banned account after summoning an alt on account #1 using the "summon a friend feature". I may have been logged off with account #2 (banned account) but I was logged in the entire time in account #1 as around this time I was leveling one of my accounts from 24 to 30 to use my Granted Levels from RaF before it expires.

I am not missing any items, or gold, no strange accounts on my name, I have a few friends on my server who noticed nothing strange, and I was definitely logged in the entire time on my main account and didn't notice anything strange with my other accounts.

I am on a server that has no Boxers as far as myself as far as I know.

Do you think my account was actually compromised? Or do you think I was falsely reported due to the nature of Multi-boxing? The last action I did before this 3 hour ban was summon my level 24 account and give her some gold (50g). I do my transactional stuff like that in Thunderbluff since no one tends to be there and it saves me from comments from people.

I also found it strange that after playing for 5 hours on account #1 (I noticed the email when I logged off) I couldn't log back into account #1 with my old password due to the "reset" since all 5 of my accounts use the same battle.net login.

Also - I put in a help request with a GM to find out, but my experience in the past on my server is that GM's are very unhelpful and I almost always get a "canned" response that looks like it came out of some help FAQ.

    Thoughts?

[Edit] - After reading more on the subject, I also want to note:

    1) I have not done any illegal trading or the like. When I came back from wow, my main account (which was 73 since I quit right after the launch of WoTLK due to some personal reasons, had a total of 200g since one of the last things I had done was purchase my epic mount stuff. Accross all my accounts, as I'm newly playing only 2-3 months under RaF, I may have total 1000g? I'd be a pretty sad gold seller if I was a legit person doing it.
    2) All 5 accounts are under my name - same address - same battle net account. 2 have similar usernames, but the other 3 are generic autogenerated ones due to the fact I purchased the accounts in the bliz store during that sale. So 3 of the accounts have weird names like WoW1, WoW2, and WoW3. Not sure if this matters.

Sounds to me like you got reported for multiboxing rather than hacked.

My first suggestion is to search for threads by people who have experienced this before, most of the ones i've read on here the people contact blizzard billing and explain they are a multiboxer and that helps.

I notice the part about being the only boxer on your server - this sounds like you might be reported a lot more than normal as a boxer just because people aren't used to seeing how a boxed team works. Or people are just spiteful/jealous of your income and skills

I've been reported for cheating/hacking after RAF granting in the middle of Org, it does look really suspicious to a 14 y/o that can't imagine having 2+ accts. If you do it again I'd suggest somewhere inside a building or out of town, just to keep the "WTF?" factor to a minimum.

Prolly something similar to what ebony said. I would guess its an automated ban from enough people that r-click your name in a chat channel and choose report spam.

Well to be safe - I've gone through the process of reformatting my pc and going back to the authenticator method (instead of dial-in).

I went through all 5 of my accounts and didn't notice anything suspicious. No new characters or anything.

I also barely talk to anyone on my server currently due to the fact I'm going through RaF mode.

I did read a bunch of theads here - I saw it mentioned I should make friends or contact a GM on my server. Is there a way to do that outside of the help system? The only times I've ever used it, I swear it's like they do not even read what I write in there.

    Are you quite wealthy?

You could have been banned for sending large amounts of money from one of your toons to another?

We've had a thread about this before, but trading large amounts of gold (idk how much, but probably over 100k) to someone in one trade will trigger their red flag. So if you were moving gold between your toons, Blizzard's alarm could have gone off, and since they are too busy to ask you directly wtf just happened, they handed out the ban.
Been here for 12 months, and just now found how to add a Signature.
