Thread: 4 Disc Priests

    Default 4 Disc Priests

So about a month ago after playing with 4 disc priests I really decided it's what I'm going to focus on. I decided to reroll a new team and have since made it to level 69 on my team. I'm currently rolling with a warrior tank.

I decided to start this thread since Owltoid still has not come back...was wondering if anyone was playing this absolutely amazing comp.

Judging by what I've seen and heard from other people, it sounds like this group might have a little bit of issues in heroics and dungeons just because of the lack of CC, however, I guess we'll have to see with how their damage scales for healing and how their damage scales for damage to kill bosses. I know with some bosses I'm going to have to go shadow on a couple of them since they are DPS races. I'm really concerned about the damage. Right now my heroic geared resto druid hits wraths for 5-6k. I'm really hoping smite will be hitting harder. I won't be able to spec into more damage..and really spamming smites at 5-6k is really only 2-3k dps. =/

One really nice thing I like about the team so far is that later on, if I put 7 points into shadow all my spirit will turn into hit which will allow me to get hit capped and generate a lot more mana regen. Right now I notice the mana is quite fine, however since they nerfed evangelism to 5%, it's really not even worth casting. You're better off sticking to 5 stacks.

My questions for other people running this comp are:
    1. What class do you use to tank
    2. Do you PvP at all
    3. What PvE dungeons, etc have you been able to accomplish.
    4. What your spec plans are

    1. Right now I'm using a warrior to tank. In my opinion the castsequence for warriors is much easier to make, they have an interrupt, as well as fear break, and spell reflect. I don't know if the group spell reflect still exists...I haven't really looked out for it too much yet. It would be another nice thing to have.

    2. I have not done any PvP yet. I've always looked at PvP as another thing I have to "prepare" myself for. I don't keybind everything right away when I'm playing teams. I keybind about 20-30 different keys, then as I level I use them up. Right now I'm running out of keys. I'd have to get PvP trinkets, keybind it. I'd also have to keybind fear ward. Really kind of dumb I haven't done it yet...although I am rather lazy.

    3. Right now the only dungeon I was not able to do while leveling was Sethekk Halls. At one point there becomes trash that is really difficult to pull. I probably could have done it, but I was really looking to just get through the levels ASAP. Since I got to Northrend I entered Utguarde Keep so far and I got to the last boss, and on the first attempt got him to 20% in second phase. I have no doubts when I get to play again I'll have that dungeon down easily. Although I noticed in UK there was a lot more demand for DPS.

I hope to hear from all of you out there playing this comp Keep in mind I'm a pretty busy guy with work and school, so I'm not on very much...I have my "spurts" of playtime
    I triple box on Arthas(US-PvP) and Magtheridon(US-PvP)
I also have solo toons on Turalyon(my main raider) and Destromath

I ran a pally/3 disc/ele shaman group until 33 but it is SO MUCH SLOWER than my main team I had to swap one of the priests with a warlock to keep from ripping my hair out.

I was very excited about smite healing until I realized that I lost so much dps that it wasn't worth it.

PVP might be amazingly fun though.

    Few things:

You don't need spirit to get hit capped. There's a glyph which increases smite's hitchance by 18%.

4 disc priest is extreme overkill, if you overgear the instance a bit then 1 priest will keep your tank up pretty well. Especially if you throw in a renew.

So I really don't want to burst your bubble, but I don't think it's that effective.

My priest sits at itemlvl 353. Quite geared, no upgrades in HC's anymore and pushes out 6k max with a lot of luck and Smite hit glyph and holy fire glyph(+20% dmg to smite if holy fire dot is present).

I would allways sub out 2 or 3 priests for arcane mages because they're so extremely OP to box, because they have the easiest rotation ever.

    A. I think Isthisspam is already determined to play this group.
    B. I imagine this comp is extremely rare. You have a warrior tank, which is rare from what ive read on here. I like warrior tanks since i control from the tank its less boring than a paladin. Also, most people on here seem to looove shaman. From all the posts ive read, it seems people like shaman, druid, paladin (unless its 4dk/pal), priest in that order. I love priests and prefer them as a group healer but i doubt anyone else plays your comp. Probably lots of tank plus four shaman groups though...

You could say this comp will be difficult in dungeons but i think on boss fights where your dots have time to tick it might be as effective as the two dps two healer comps. Trash gets mowed down by boxers almost as fast as quest mobs do. Your group will be hard to kill. Being dead does zero dps.

    Good luck!

PS. I switch my priests to holy at 60-62, whenever i start instances on the group theyre in. I think disc has tons of wasted talent points. Its got smite healing. Waste gobs more points, then get pain suppression. Whoopee.

Yeah I mean like after hearing what some of you are saying it doesn't sound like its going to be very viable.

I have zero interest in PvP in this group. I would still like to get them to 85...maybe atleast try it, see how it goes. I do have a feeling that I will need to bring in more dps.

Right now sitting at level 60 I've got an each of my accounts:
    61 Mage
    60 Hunter
    58 Warlock
    68 Druids

On my main account I have a lot more characters to play with. I've got a nice base with my priests...and I do find dungeons to be interesting with disc priests. With my currently undergeared tanks in 5 mans it works out pretty well. I was able to clear UK earlier today. We'll see what happens when I get to 85...I might have to level 2-3 more characters from 60-85...not the worst thing that could ever happen.

    Thanks for the suggestions!

Edit - in regards to warrior tanks, I really like them as well. Shield Bash as an interrupt(yes i know that paladins have it now too), as well as spell reflect and a bunch of other fun toys are what i like most about warrior tank. Although Warriors don't bring kings with them...I'd rather be playing a warrior than a Paladin, but thats my personal preference.

If you enjoy it thats what matters.

If you have fun playing a warrior and four disc priests keep doing it. Nothing stopping you from dual speccing them three shadow, one holy for whenever the situation calls for it.
