Thread: PVP Noob :)

  1. #1

    Default PVP Noob :)

Always used Keyclone and played PVE groups.

So last night I took my lvl ~17/18 x 5 mages into AB and was woeful! I begin to remember reading about leaderless groups and screen swapping and..

Well now it's time to take this more seriously

Should I be right to assume ISBoxer and Jamba are probably my first port of call? I've barely used either of these products. But soon I'm upgrading my hardware significantly so running 5 x hi-res to swap screens in ISBoxer is more of a reality.

I also realise that maybe I'd be better off with 4 mages and a healer...

Or some might say warlocks. Since I'm not twinked (except for Guild lvl 10 heirloom cloak) my health is tiny. I took down a twinked warlock, but shortly after my main died to the dots and the followers just stood around looking gormless - fail.

    What do you guys think?

Well, it's quite a nobrainer that you want to setup ISboxer :P
Personally, I only really use Jamba for questing, FP's and whisper forward.

Go to Character Sets -> select your set -> Click on 1 -> Top option: "hotkey to switch to this character"

That's as simple as it gets. I run my slave's settings all 'normal' low, but even then it's better to swap to a slave at times then stick on the inital main.

Any of the FTL software options would be a decent idea of PvP.
IS Boxer gets you FTL automatically, just by running the wizard.
Pretty sure swap speed is decent with HKN and you can go FTL with that too.
Keyclone has FTL, but I could never get the hotstrings to work, and the swaps are not instant or fast.

I chose IS Boxer, when PvP was becoming more fun for me.
And do not regret it at all; the product rocks and Lax offers amazing support.

    Jamba is modular.

Take the pieces you want to use and enable them.
    Disable the rest.

I personally use 15-20% of the addon.
But I'm sure some people use the entire thing.

Jamba is a phenomenal addon for boxers.
And we're lucky to have someone like Jafula to have made it and maintain it for the community.

A lot of compositions will work.
Really it comes down to what you find to be fun.

    I've had a blast with 5x Ferals.
I've seen 5x Warlocks and both 4x Warlocks + Druid or 4x Warlocks + Priest teams.
4x/5x Elemental Shaman is a fairly common team for BG's.
As is 4x Shaman + 1x Druid, presumably Balance for PvP and Feral for PvE with the one team.
4x Ret and 1x DK was very popular last expansion.
1x Heals and 4x DK is rather strong this expansion.

If you think it could be fun, it might be worth trying.
    EverQuest I: Bard / Enchanter / Druid / Wizard / 2x Magician.
    Diablo III: 4x Crusader & 4x Wizard.
