Default Suggestion for dual box DPS combo

    Greetings!

I have had a second account and played a warrior tank and disc priest all through Wotlk and quested to 85 together with them. I enjoy dual boxing, but with my lesser playtime, and increased complexity of both the classes and encounters; I barely play the two accounts together anymore aside from dailies.

I would like to justify keeping my second account by leveling up two DPS classes. Two ranged DPS classes should be much easier to play in groups and raids compared to a tank and a healer lol. I would like some suggestions on potential combos that have some decent synergy or would be fun to play together. Two of the same class is alright as well! I am looking for a combo using the following classes: warlock, mage, druid or shaman.

I will likely not bother playing alternate specs, so the ability to tank or heal is of no concern. The majority of my playtime is already invested in a warrior tank and healing priest which I find have enough complexity now to be fun on their own in those roles.

My initial thought was 2 locks or 2 mages for the ease of setup and rotations, but honestly I don't know much about any of these 4 classes. I also thought that the locks and mages might be fun with the ability to have pets.

Anyway, any suggestions are welcome, thanks!

(Small influence may be the ability to play one of the pair decently in a heroic group setting while playing one of my mains, likely the tank. Are any of these classes fairly simple as a slave that can do significant DPS?)

Two of the same is probably going to be the easiest.

But with the advent of the two button dps spam.
You can get fairly decent DPS out of any two classes.
If you want to do heroics, I'd go with classes that have decent CC options.
    EverQuest I: Bard / Enchanter / Druid / Wizard / 2x Magician.
    Diablo III: 4x Crusader & 4x Wizard.

Forgive me as I haven't been active on these forums in a while or with boxing in general. What is this two button DPS spam you speak of? Are ez-mode cast-sequence macros back?

I would suggest 2 warlocks myself.

I'm currently levelling sets of both magi and warlocks and I find the warlocks are a lot easier to maintain high rates of DPS. Certainly with the current balance of classes, warlocks are easier. Corruption + Bane of agony + 2 x demons flies through quests. I play 3 accounts and I find that I can do the equivalent of 'chain pulling' with the ability to do set up lots of dots.

When I am playing affliction, I can target, place 3 dots then change target and I find my demons will finish off any target that I cycle through.

On the other hand, playing the magi is also fun. I've levelled them as frost (you mentioned having pets so I assume you were talking about frost specs) and that is also immensely fun. A lot of frost bolt spam and ice lance of course but overall quite fun.

I have found the locks to churn out consistently higher DPS however and if you were looking at doing any levelling in BGs, locks are your best bet. I find my magi are toast whenever I am locked onto by the enemy team but I can turn a BG single handedly with my DoTS in my locks. Not many FC escorts in WSG can survive each party member with 3 dots on them

    Hope that helps

The macros are in threads like these (all sticky threads):

You are essentially taking two macros for your class.
The first is a collection of spells that can be mashed indefinitely, and will never lock up or cause the macro to stick.
The second is your proc type abilities that you'll want to cast at each opportunity, but which aren't always available.

You then alternate presses of Macro A and Macro B.
You can do this with IS Boxer or HKN, probably with other software boxing options too.
The default user interface has swap action bar commands, and you could put each macro on the same key but on different bars with the swap bar command for each, so it alternates as well.

If youre only able to 2-box, you wont be able to run instances on your own. If thats true, i would pick a class that can heal so you will be able to use the LFD tool without a long queue wait.

2x Shaman, leveled as elemental or enh

    Or

2x Priest, leveled as shadow or disc

    Or

    2x Druid, leveled as boomkin

    Or

    2x Paladin, leveled as prot

When you want to do an instance you can set up click healing. If you can queue as tank
AND healer then you can let the LFD dps worry about cc if needed. Just act like youre playing the tank and your non-english (or whatever) speaking friend is the healer.

Wow. I just reread your post. I started doing something halfway throug replying and forgot you already have a healer and tank. In that case, id still do two druids so you can dps as either a caster or melee.

2 hunters would completely own the CC game in heroics and you get pets as well. Ive seen hunters CC up-to 3 mobs at the same time.

Shaman/Druid team would work well, Both DPS/Heal and you have a bear tank. Rezzes and they dont clash on armor drops.
