Thread: 3 Drakes + ??

  1. #1

    Default 3 Drakes + ??

Is it feasible to use 3 Drakes & another ship for L4+ missions?

In the process of training all the toons to the required standard for Drakes so they can equip BCS 2, Invulnerability/Resist shields 2, Large Shield Extender 2, Hobgoblin 2 and T2 Heavy Missiles (with appropriate rigging).

Just wondering what the other ship should be? (Preferably Caldari but can train anything really!)

Thinking either a hauler with a salvager/tractor beam or maybe another type of ship to fulfil a similar role.....

They will all eventually train for Hulks (and Orca then Maybe Rorqual on the main) but want some other skills trained first so I can take a break from mining with them all

honestly, your be more efficient with 1 single drake equipped for tanking to the max, ignoring dps. and then having 3 dpsers. you can set up the overview with different tabs pulled off with repeater regions for targeting ( use an ATG). will be the fastest way to get level 4 missions done with 4 accounts, although you'd make more isk if you had 2 dps tank and a salvage/ looting ship dedicated.

    Cheers for the reply.

Looks like i'll go Tank, 2 DPS (or maybe 3 ) and a looter then.

Would I still be ok using 2 Drakes for the DPS or is there a different ship that's better suited to Heavy Missile DPS?

Guess i'll get a Bestower as my loot ship

If I recall correctly, doesn't the first bird they spot get 100% aggro? If so, how do you "tank" the missions like that? Is there a taunt? I briefly read through some of that info back when I was trying missioning a year or so ago but I don't recall reading a good explanation of how to go about that optimally.

Link to a good missioning doc, plz.

[edit] I started with this guide but quickly got to the point where I was wondering about more advanced tictacz.

drakes will be fine.. but not the best. obviously you'd be better off with something like a tengu or a golem, but skill training for either of those is intensive to say the least. As your going to ignore sheilds on those 2, I'd suggest running an AB and cap recharge fitting with 3-4BCU's and go all out for dps. forget if the drake has a utility high? think it does if so go with a target painter. if not then have your tanking drake swap a launcher for a TP, the bonus from having the TP with 2 fully dps fitted drakes will offset the loss from 1 tank fitted launcher.

Cool! I'll give the multiple Drakes a go first and maybe start training towards the more advanced ships.

Will probably take me a bit of time to get used to controlling all the ships as a fleet.

Does the aggro table work like Ugh suggested? Should I warp in with the tank first, wait until engaged then warp in the DPS's?

May put the salvager and TP on the tanking drake then and equip all my other ships as DPS....

The general NPC aggro in a non-wormhole, and a non-incursion situation is as he suggested. The original NPCs generally do not switch targets after they have one. However, their more newer NPCs in the Wormholes and Incursion sites are vastly more challenging.

I used to run 5 drakes and i had 1 toon in a Salvaging Destroyer, and just warped him in after or near the end of the mission, and just did another mission and salvaged at the same time. But, if you are T1 fitting a drake then that may not necessarily be a bad idea.

Aggro works like that on the first wave. After that other ships get aggro as well.

So I'll give the DPS guys 1 Shield Extender each and BCS the rest, just as a bit of insurance.

Haven't even managed to finish the SoE arc yet, been too busy at work and only been managing to login to set skills training each nite when I get home.

Hopefully this weekend I'll get a bit of gaming done

Unless something's changed Shield Extenders are mid slot and Battle Control Systems are low slot. You may be thinking of Shield Rechargers that are low slot.
