Haha. Following the wisdom of everyone on here I made a elf girl team... But when I got in game, I couldn't do it.

Answer is:
If you want to be optimal in pvp, go alliance with human or human / gnome. If you want to be horde and don't care about being the best melée race, do whatever.

I went Orc. I have no hope of hitting 2200 due to lack of skill, so the racial wouldn't really bring that much to my table. Haha.

Not sure if it was changed in Cataclysm, but in WotLK there were four neutral auctioneers in the game: Two in Booty Bay (downstairs in the house by the half boat + by the bank), one in Gadgetzan (only building that goes underground), and one in Winterspring (basically across from the inn).

There were actually 3 auctioneers in WotLK in booty bay. 1 in the basement of a building, one as you come off the boat to the left, and one at the very end of the ramp where the guildbank is.
