    Default Hacked with Dial-In Authenticator

In case people aren't aware of this... I had a dial-in authenticator and was just hacked. I thought they were just as secure as regular authenticators, but this is not the case.

Aside from all the talk about using exclusive email addresses and passwords, having updated AV, and all the other precautions which we all know, I am still out about 50k gold and have to deal with the restoration process.

I have since rescanned everything, changed all my passwords, and gone back to the regular authenticator. I know the Dial-In version is convenient for us, but it is nowhere near as secure.

I just wanted to make people aware that this is out there. My account was nothing compared to some people on here and I would hate to hear of another multiboxer getting hit.

It's been awhile since my account has been compromised, I am to the point after watching friends with decent precautions get hacked that I think it's blizzard generating half of it so they can respond with "Oh look we help you every single time with great CS"

Partly this is inspired by the last time I was hacked I made about 10K and 2 buddies made upward to 25-30K each time (they were hacked with authenticators twice.....)

I almost wish I could get another go at it, I'd love a nice 20-30K boost ...not to mention all the extra current xpac mats they gave me last time.

Sorry to hear that you were hacked. In this thread this was discussed (starts about in the middle of the thread).

That's what I get for not reading the forums more.

This is something i brought up in the original thread about these as well. Dial-in authenticators are not safe... especially for someone who looks at pictures of naked women on the interwebs.

Woke up this morning to an inbox full of restoration emails. It looks like they got everything. Five hours to full restoration is pretty fast.

I have heard horror stories about the process, but I can't complain at all.

Two weeks it took my restoration and I still lost a ton of stuff to which blizzard replied, "we have no log of the items you are referring to and so cannot restore them"
    Grats on a fast restoration.

it means if Blizzard doesnt recognize the ip you are logging in from they will ask you to phone a special number to log in from that ip. Great in theory =)
