Opensource apps?

I think everyone in here can understand my paranoia about running some strange program from someone you dont trust. I'm looking for a free program, which makes that even harder.

I am looking for an Opensource application that will allow me to click on several game clients at the same time, all running on the same computer. Any recommendations?

At any rate, there are a few people linux multi-boxing wow on the forums, they are using sendEvent tools last I looked. Essentially hotkeynet for keyevents only, without toggle. However you could have a target window which was used for itself sending keyevents which would then roundrobin or what not.

I believe you could find someone on the forums that would be able to give you a good deal on a hardware multiplexer.

I'm with HPAVC on open source not fixing that particular issue. There's plenty of articles that explain that most open source programs never get code reviewed and everyone assumes that someone else is reviewing it for them (this is a subject of debate, here's a link with some interesting discussion). That only happens when there's enough developers interested in a particular open source project. Someone could hide malicious code in an open source app just as they could in a closed source app, and if you don't read the code yourself, how can you be sure? Even if you do, code that looks fine could be hiding something, too.

But .. why on earth would he use a closed source hardware multiplexer?! They run strange programs from someone you don't trust.

Hey, have you heard about the upcoming Intel chips having built-in DRM? (google for "Intel Insider", this is current news) Who exactly do you trust?

Trusting open source vs trusting closed source is a debate with 2 sides. as lax wrote code needs to be reviewed. Assuming most boxers go with lax his isboxer (closed source with call back function afaik to check license); it's a matter of putting your trust in the many happy boxers on this forum using his stuff vs the masses (non boxers) that use an open source tool like autohotkey. Both seem to have a big enough community where 'trust' becomes rather a non issue imo.

Anyway, open source tools that I'm aware of:
for windows you can go with autohotkey, mojo and a more recent (french) project called many of wow.
for linux you can go with xdotool, many of wow should work on both platforms, just as synergy does

using google to search this site should be a good help for the respective threads that cover the software mentioned

Such paranoia yet you don't mask / hide your IP and you trust google enough to use gmail.

Always wonder when the 'opensource' addon that will buy auctions that a specific channel it is listening is telling it to is coming ... or is it already here.

That said I am almost done with my own multiplexer, its been a fun year of little tweaks..Definitely not because hotkeynet was closed source.

I think its back to unitframes after this.
