well 1-10 is the part where im always struggling myself, since you cant get into DM untill lvl 10. Then i normally pick my mage and pewpew them to 20. After that I just quest a bit. I personally was amazed with the speed empi was doing at that level, he was really lvl 20 in no time. Perhaps he can help you a bit with where to go. I think its wise to do the gathering quests, just look at them as just another kill quest with a twist (also, get the questhelper mod, this is REALLY imba, just tells you where to go, what to do. AND it syncs with your bitches! = win : P) think that will help you very much. Could do some aoeing, but rather would want to get my own toons a bit higher before ill rush people through any instances.

From 10 on what i did with my priest/hunter group (and my full priest group) was following brian kopp's guide for the quests. Also kill a lot more then you need.
