4+ Boxing
Hello everyone, I'm new here and I'm happy to be a part of this community.
I have a few questions that I hope can be answered about boxing more than two characters...
Well, where to start...I'm a college student. I play WoW on my free time and I have recently been leveling two rogues at the same time(I know, not the best combo), same computer and all. It's gone pretty smoothly and I've just found the program I've been looking for- AHK - thanks to this site.
While leveling these two characters, I had got experience in doing so a year or so ago with my girlfriends' character.. but this time I have been leveling these two since level 1. I really seem to enjoy it a lot and finally found a place I can talk to others about it.
But here is my question. After looking around, watching, reading, etc..I've become even more interested in boxing characters....4 or maybe even 5. I don't think the copies of WoW will be a problem for me, just the computers. Right now I don't have 'that much' money to work with, but If needed I have some old computer parts around and I could probably throw together another computer or two. I have an extra monitor, mouse and keyboard.
--While having too few computers (ie, 2 or 3), would I still be able to run a 4 or 5ish box setup? With a combo of all sorts of hardware and software? Or would I just be better off leveling the 2 or 3 characters and waiting until another computer/monitor comes my way?
Thanks for your time...hope to hear back soon....

I am biased in the fact that I prefer one copy of WoW running per PC. I personally set a goal to 5 box and waited until I had the hardware before I began. If you really want an enjoyable experience, I would do lots of research and planning before beginning. It can actually save you quite a bit of money and frustration. I would either do 3 or 5 rather than 4. A cheap option is 3 computers that are capable of playing WoW, 3 monitors, and wireless keyboards for broadcasting. I am personally using Synergy for my keyboard broadcasting until I upgrade to Vetras.
Really, you need to factor in what exactly you want to do and what your budget is. Come up with goals and plan out how to achieve them. There are plenty of us willing to help you put your goals in action

Up until recently, I've used one computer for each instance of WoW. But one of my extras is dying so I've started experimenting with a strange combination. I'm still working out all the angles, but I'm getting close. I'm levelling three new characters for this experiment; a UD priest and two BE warlocks (Dvant, Dvaunt, and Dveight)
I plan on running two instances on one PC (my 'pet' warlocks) and my 'main' (priest) on a laptop. I am running MultiBox to broadcast from my laptop to the PC and then AHK on the PC to broadcast keystrokes to each of the follower windows. I've just finished tweaking my AHK script today and will be testing the whole configuration this evening. If this works out well and I can avoid wife-aggro for all the account fees, I'm thinking of trying to expand this concept to a 5 box setup using three computers.
