Default Thinking of calling it a day....

So I have only been playing WOW for just coming up to four 4 months now. (I played a long time ago until the day Wrath came out and then quit the very day it came out - at that time I was just playing one account).

Then I came back and bought 5 accounts.

When Cata came out and I continued to level up my guys and now I hit 85 and I decided to put my guys on hold while I level my tank's ilvl and general gear because I was finding it too hard to run instances.

Now I just can't find the motivation to play with them any more?

After running all of the instances I think to myself...

Dead Mines... impossible as a multiboxer.
    - Good luck clicking all the ropes at the end...
    - Good luck moving through the electrostatic turn wheels..
    - Good luck avoiding the rotating fire on the first boss and maintaining high amount of AOE dps on the adds while nuking the boss

    Grim Batol... good luck with...
    - The obscene movement on the third boss and avoiding the fire which consumes 80% of the room and avoiding the elemetal goos which track down your players
    - On the fourth boss it is impossible to stack up slowing down the adds reaching the eggs...

    Throne of Tides
    - The final boss is just impossible

    Stonecore
    - The final boss.. you have to do about eight things here all at once

So, in complete, I think the only instance on heroic which you can farm as a multiboxer is Vortex Pinnacle. Seeing as I can't get epics unless I run raids with my guys, which blatently won't happen, I can't see how it is going to be possible for me to get any enjoyment out of the game any more multiboxing.

Instead, I am just using my 85's as AH alts and amassing an absolute fortune. I think I'm up to about 120k in liquid gold and I have over 150k on all my guys in statistics for gold acquired, not to mention I just bought 7 BOEs for my Paladin tank this week at 15k average each.

I don't know if I can see the light at the end of the tunnel! But for now, my guys have become glorified bank alts.

I may....and I mean may (if I can suffer the grind to 80), hit 85 so it makes running old world raids easier.

I should be able to murder the twin emps (even c'thun) at level 85. That would be cool. And BWL would go in a jiffy, then I can finally do the level 70 raids.

Kalyse, we go through the same cycles.

An expansion comes out, and the initial heroics are impossible or very hard. A few boxers can do them, but most cannot. Strategies are shared, and with a lot of practice the first few bosses are downed. For the longest time, my best PvE team could only kill four or five out of fifty or so bosses.

Over time, especially as higher tiers of gear is released, for the same challenge (heroics) the rewards are greater. In three months or so, when the current 10/25 man raid rewards become the rewards from heroics (basically whenever new raid content is introduced) heroics will reward us with better gear than is required to defeat them. This starts the snowball effect. A raid tier after that, and heroics reward gear two tiers higher than is required to do heroics. At which point, they become a total joke for the last year to year and a half of the expansion; reaching the point where all the trash mobs are AoE'd down and we clear them in six to ten minutes or so.

It can help to one-box your Tank class through random dungeons, to get gear which makes the entire team that much more effective. You can also gear up through pvp if you find that more fun; pvp gear won't be as good for pve as pve gear but it might be a decent start.

You can also farm herbs/ores/leather, etc. Play the auction house. Run dailies, and build to the point where you can buy gear from the auction house, in particular for your tank but to a slightly lesser degree also for your main healer toon on your team.

It comes down to this one important thing - are you having fun?

That's my problem. I'm still having fun, so I can't call it quits.

ALSO, Blizz will start to nerf bosses, e.g. Ionar in HoL, caused many boxers a ton of issues and then he got nerfed. What is not possible today in full blues in 6 months will be nerfed to allow a team in greens to clear the easier bosses.

I am amassing gold and doing dailies for Rep at present, no success in heroics so far, even some of the regular dungeons I have not completed but I am not losing sleep over them due to it being so early in the expansion.

This is true. Also, we don't yet have the high-end crafted epics like we did in WotLK. Once the hardcore min/maxers get the recipes, that should ease things up a bit.

    What Ualaa and Crowdx said.

Fortunately for me I am an altoholic, so I am always late to reach high level. In WOTLK, coming late an benefiting from the experience of others and possible patches, I could hardly believe what I read here about this or that boss being impossible.

Just level another group (or four) to kill a month or two.

In Wotlk I focussed mainly on pvp with 4 shaman. Atm I somewhat CBA to level them because I don't feel like PVPing. I created a lock/mage/shaman/priest/paladin tank for pve purposes on my old realm. I couldn't be arsed with all the phasing and whatnot so now i'm solo playing the 5 characters. 3x 85, 2x 83 and I'm definitely enjoying it. It's sooo awesome to get instant queue with mage by queueing with tank and instantly leaving. Instead of having to wait 30 minutes like the average joe.

Also Doing AH business while waiting for a tank, for whatnot. gotta love it.

I don't know if i'll ever box a heroic, but at the moment I really don't care I'm having fun now, that's what matters for me.

These have all been multi-boxed. Farm the easy ones get your gear up or wait for nerfs I guess. Try pvp, but if you aren't having fun find something else. It happens maybe try 1 toon and see if you enjoy wow at all in different aspects.

Yeah, but with what group? We've had this discussion before where pally+shams were ezmode in heroics and melee teams had to suck it hard until they geared up. My point is, if you're basically saying "lol l2multibox" then that isn't exactly helpful. Some of us are obviously having a good run so far with certain groups (usually ones with lots of passive/active healing) and a lot of us have an extremely difficult time with all the AoE (melee teams in particular).
