Default requesting help with getting alt windows to target and hold different mobs from main

    Hello all,

I have tried searching through the forums, and also tried to tinker with ISBoxer myself for a few hours, but cannot seem to find a way to get my alts to each target different mobs.

For example, I would like to be able to press

    shift + H = account 2 only, assist account 1's current mob
    ctrl + H = account 3 only, assist account1's current mob
    alt + H = account 4 only, assist account1's current mob
    ctrl + shift + H = account 5 only, assist account1's current mob
ctrl + shift + H = account 1 target whomever is the current leader's target

What I have tried so far is setup those individual keypresses as separate keymaps (so 5 new keymaps). each with only 1 step, passed only to their respective charcter slot. I made 5 copies of the FTL assist me from the general keymap and named them FTL Assist me 1 through 5, and had each of the 5 new keymaps call on the appropriate copy of FTL Assist me. (i.e. hit SHIFT + H keymap to call on FTL ASSIST ME 2)

This did not work, as no matter which of the new keymaps I hit, all of the alts would assist me at the same time, just as if I had hit the regular ftl assist me even though I made triple sure that the new keymaps are calling on the new FTL assist me copies that I have made, and those are only getting passed to one character slot window.

I then tried to create 5 different keymaps, each of which only passes the default "F" for assist key to their own related alt window, but with the same results. no matter which of the new keymaps i press, all of the slaves will assist to the same target.

So..... what am I doing wrong? as usual, any help would be kindly appreciated. thanks and hope everyone have a happy new year!

You could do something like this: http://www.dual-boxing.com/showthread.php?t=33669 .... specifically, having a key, where only the one toon FTL targets your main.

Then take your pick, have a toggle key which enables/disables the normal FTL assist, so when you push a DPS key like "1", it doesn't have your toons change target to whatever the main is targeting.

Or alternatively, do something like set the current target as the Focus of your character. Then have a warcraft macro, on a keybind, which will cast whatever at your Focus should your toon have a Focus.

I think the latter example will be easier to implement. You would have a key which causes only that toon to assist your main character. And then have only that character do /Focus. Have another key, which can be sent to everyone; something like: /cast [Target=Focus,Exists] Whatever. If they don't have a Focus, it will not fire off... but if they do have a Focus, irregardless of IS Boxer causing them to change targets because of your DPSing, they will cast whatever at the target (Focus) which you individually assigned to them.

The FTL assist built into ISBoxer is always going to assist the main on every default DPS key. You have a choice, either remove the assist from keymaps you attack with or modify the assist keymap.

For instancing I use "Target-and-Hold FTL" which basically assists the main when an enemy target does not exist. This allows you to pre-set targets to kill before you pull, or TAB target around a group with your tank to build agro without the DPS shifting target all the time.

I detailed my multimode targetting system a while back in the thread linked by Aragent.

The original post and later contributions should give you plenty of ideas how to alter your assisting method.

    Hope it helps.

As far as what you did wrong on your attempt, and if you really wanted them to only assist slot 1, all you needed to do was make a Mapped Key for each, use a Keystroke Action that sends Shift+Backspace to whichever window(s) you wanted to make assist the first slot. Unless, of course, you changed the FTL Modifiers in your Character Set, or changed the FTL Assist Me mapping to something other than Backspace. And as also mentioned, you could remove the Assist from each of the FTL DPS Keys if you don't want them automatically assisting at all.

Also, you might consider a little row of Click Bar buttons for each of your guys, rather than (or in addition to) the key combo per toon. Having to hit the right modifier for the right window is a little cumbersome, imo.

But yeah the other suggestions in this thread are good

Thanks everyone for the instructions. I will go play around with the various methods outlined to see which flows more naturally. Thanks again and happy new year to you all!

I have a key that is similar to Ualaa's

Keypress 1 > ALT 1 Assist the Tank and Set Focus
Keypress 2 > ALT 2 Assist the Tank and Set Focus
Keypress 3 > ALT 3 Assist the Tank and Set Focus
Keypress 4 > ALT 4 Assist the Tank and Set Focus

My focus macros have a raid target icon tied into them. Each alt is represented by a Mark. That way I know instantly if everyone has the right targets set. Then I have a Hex button for my focus target as well as a bind elemental focus target, interrupts, purges, etc...

I have been trying to get click bars to work for CC purposes but have not been successful.
What I have setup in the macro has been to target the focus of the tank and then CC that target, for some reason it is not working as I thought it would though.
My idea was that each click bar would be a separate toon on my team and so just click the button for each toon to CC whatever mob my tank was selecting.

Your toon cannot see what the Tank has as their Focus.
You can see what the Tank has as a Target, and set that target as your focus.

You could have a mapped key per character.
Each has only that character assist the tank.
And then either a wow macro (send the keybind to that toon) or an IS Boxer macro... either way, have it set the target as Focus, possibly Raid Icon mark it (will get an error when you try to mark players, but they'll still be set as Focus).

Then have another mapped key, which sends a keystroke to each of your CCing toons.
Have a wow/isboxer macro on that keybind.
    Something like:
    /cast [@Focus,Exists] CC Spell

If my logic is correct, without a Focus the [@Focus,Exists] will fail.
But if you do have a Focus, then your CC is directed at your focus, and it won't matter what you're targeting.

I tried to do a macro
    /cast [Target=Focus] Banish

And manually set my focus per toon based on what I want them to cc in the trash pack. This did not work with FTL because once I do anything with the main and press my dps button the toons will not cast at their focus. Instead they cast at whatever my main is targeting. It's really a pain in the ass.

My work around is changing the macro from above to /tar mobs name then /cast banish at the end. I just manually add in all the trash mobs names as I do instances. Once the names are in then all I have to do is mash my button and if the mob exist it will target them and cast the cc. It's not 100% because many of the mobs have the same name so I can hex and sheep the same target.

The holy grail for me is figuring out how to cc and set different focus for my guys other than what my tank is on while using FTL. If I figure out Isboxer better maybe I will find the grail. Until then I am still fighting with it.
