Default Are 2x melee impossible or just very very hard?

So far I've gotten my pally/shaman/druid combo to level 20-21 and I'm having a lot of fun in the process thanks in large part to the folks in this forum.

I'm wondering if down the road I should add my level 52 rogue to the mix and get them all 4 to 70 before the expansion (I already have 3 other 70's I leveled solo).

I think I understand all the issues with multiple melee characters, but I'm not sure those issues make 2x melee in a group impossible. I'm thinking even if the rogue just follows my pally and doesn't hit anything, it still may be worth it to add him to the group when the others get to their 50's.

Any thoughts from folks who have tried multiple melee characters in one party? Is it too difficult to be effective?

I 2-box with a Prot Pally and Dps Warrior from 60 to 70, and I end up just manually control the 2nd melee to a fighting position, but that's before KeyClone.

After I got Keyclone, and using it with a Prot Pally and Holy Pally that I want to melee, my /follow and /assist macro messed up the facing and end up not hitting the mob most of the time without more adjustment from my main.

Maybe it's because it's a Holy Paladin. If it was Ret, then Auto Attack would be just fine w/ SoCommand on.

I may try with a MS warrior, and just spam MS & auto attack.

In a small box, like 3, two melees isn't a big issue, depends on the classes though. I box a warrior, paladin, (shaman or hunter) without any problem. On the other hand, I was boxing a feral druid and a rogue with a third, and that wasn't fun -- didn't feel like I was getting a 100% out of the druid with the rogue, largely because the rogue requires the same small set of buttons hit pretty rapidly ,so I dropped the third. At 5, though, I prefer only one melee, but I've heard of people doing it.

Really, the issue isn't whether it's possible, just whether it's fun for you.

It isn't that it is impossible or even hard. The problem comes in when you have to both react to PVP (or "advanced" PVE AI) situations. Hitting anything in melee breaks /follow. Also, without a /stick function, you cannot keep everyone facing the right direction if the person/mob keeps repositioning itself behind you or too far off to the side.

Really, it's more of a pain in the ass than anything else, and it means you have to constantly focus on keeping everyone in range, facing the right way and using the right attacks. You can mitigate the first two problems with ranged characters. The third problem is universal and really depends on getting your macros setup to be efficient.

A lot more subtlety is involved here than most folks give us credit for.

I have dual-boxed a pally + warrior. The key being the warrior as the 2nd and using Charge - this way, the warrior is hitting the target with little need to run around and position both your meee chars. However, if you are too close to the enemy when you start the fight, you will have to do the "melee dance" to get everyone in position. I wouldn't recommend this as your standard dual-box team - only in special cases such as a carebear situation.

You can of course replace the pally above with any melee class.
