Looking to buy 4 LCD monitors ..which ones are good/bad, what do you use?

I jsut tink it looks badass wen you flipp 2x 22" LCD screens, if you only put 1 window a screen its kinda a whaist of space in my opinion :S

Can anyone recommend some 17" or 19" monitors? I like the idea of flipping a 22" but would prefer to have separate monitors.

Dell had a deal going this last week, maybe still so, for $138 17" widescreen LCDs in 1440x900 resolution. Their economy model 19" widescreen at the same resolution was around $170? That's about as cheap you'll find LCDs - which is fine for displaying your alts. I just wouldn't use one for a main.

I use a Soyo 24", got it for $299 at Officemax a few months ago. It sits next to a few Dell flatscreens, and it has excellent visual quality. I was thinking of getting a 30", but that would be overkill for now.

Two of my alts are using i-INC 19" panels. They were dirt cheap and have no bad pixels or obviously crappy performance. If you're going to get out a magnifying glass and look for issues, you'll find something wrong with anything you buy. If you just want something that's cheap but acceptable for alt PCs and you aren't trying to do professional Photoshop or HD video work on them, these or the inexpensive Dell's will work fine. I'd stay away from the Sceptre or HannsG panels, though, as they're old tech that's been recycled, basically (large .28DP pixels, crappy contrast/brightness, low color support, slow response times, etc. ad nauseum).

I've seen the E248WFP side-by-side with the older 24" 2405WFP Ultrasharp, and the older Ultrasharp looks much better in color representation, contrast, and viewing angle. The response time on the E248WFP may be slightly better, but compared to the newer 2407WFP model, there's NO comparison. Put them side-by-side and you'll see what I'm talking about.

I get reminded of that difference every time I sit down at work in front of my 17' at work.

I know how you feel. At work I have an older 20" 1600x1200 Dell.. from around the time the 2405 first came out. I love my 2405WFP, but I just wish it had the same bezel & stand as the new 2407 I just ordered - I like my setup to be uniform. I may have to end up getting a 2nd 2407 for home, and bring my 2405 to work.

Response time helps reduce ghosting. 16ms has some noticeable ghosting at certain times, but it's not a big deal. 12ms is barely noticeable, but I highly doubt many people will notice a difference between 8ms, 5ms, and 2ms. Think about it - 8ms is equal to 125fps. 1000ms in a second / 8 = 125. However, the refresh rate on most LCDs is still at 60Hz, 72Hz, or 75Hz. Once you're in the sub-10ms response rate range, there are other far more important factors in choosing an LCD - mainly color depth(!), contrast ratio, brightness, and viewing angle.
