Default Out of memory for 5 game with 4GRAM

    Hi Friend,

    I just upgrade my system from win7 x86 to win7 x64.
When I play WOW for 5 toons, after a while, the system report out of memory.
I never met this problem when I used win7 x86 or XP.
I check the task manager, each WOW window will use about 480M. I forget how many it will use in XP or win7 x86 version?
I try to disable the windows service and the free RAM is about 2500M before start the WOW.
    It still dangerous.
Is it because the win7 x64 need more memory?
Is it normal for each WOW windows, it will use about 480M?

did you disable the paging file? Although not ideal, I thought it would use that if you run out of RAM, thereby avoiding the error. (hopefully I'm talking about the right thing... more knowledgeable users will be by shortly)

Yeah, if you disabled the paging file system, then WoW will crash when it tries to allocate memory when there is none left.

Do you run a Solid state disk drive? Did you optimize your system for SSD? If so, you probably disabled the paging system as most SSD guides recommend it.

Dump 'taskmgr' and use perfmon or at least resource monitor so you can break out the processes band understand what their actual usage is (real/swap, where the growth is, etc)

This 'after a while' stuff is where i would concentrate my time, if just sitting in an instance grinding for hours by yourself and you run out of memory, or sitting in dal. Look at any of the number of good ace addons that track addon performance, my guess is that something is in a race condition and isn't garbage collecting (x5). Simply showing the top memory growth addons should expose this.

8Gb for 99.95 of DDR3 1600 on Newegg.com, I recommend with x64 and the changes to WoW you do this before anything else. This would double your memory and give you time to find the other parasites sucking the memory from your gaming system.

I found out that the superfetch function occupied about 800M RAM.
That's one reason why I run out of memory with 5 char.
When I disable the superfetch function, it is much better. But still in some case, by checking the resource management, each WOW process will occupied more than 600M, then again, out of memory.
It look lik I really need to buy another 4G RAM.

4 gig ain't enough these days to mutlibox 5 without any problems.

    Get 6gig or 8.

When it comes to RAM, more is better. Without a page file you'll still crash at times with 6GB.
