    Default Multilaunchbox Network Support

Hi, i was just wondering if anyone had successfully got the networking support in multilaunchbox (Mac) to work, i am in no way criticizing the product or the creator and have spoken to the creator about my problem, a few months ago we tried to work through my problems but gave up when i had to go away for a while. Now i have started boxing again the strain put on my Imac post 4.0.3a means i would like to use both my macbook pro and my Imac and MLB seems like the best solution.

As I said before i have spoken very recently to the creator about my problems, but would like to see if anyone else has had this problem or has got it too work and can give me some advice/infomation. (I have used the search function but couldn't seem to get anything up that was of great help)

    Thanks

I have used multilaunchbox on to box on 2 different macs after 4.0.3a for the same reasons you stated. It worked as advertised for me. I got frustrated not being able to use the mouse on the second computer and went back to a synergy broadcast / clonekeys solution. I am not too happy with that either (the synergy part) I am planing on upgrading my mac pro to try and get everything back on one computer.

do you think that the fact that one of my computers has SnowLeopard and the other doesn't would be a large problem?

Also could you run me through the set up? That would be wonderful.

    Thanks

I have SL on both of them so i don't know if that would be an issue or not.

here is the basic procedure i used:

    download MLB

set up MLB on the "master" computer, it had my tank and healer. I set up all my blacklist / whitelist keys and teams and such. MLB seems to save all this info in the application rather than in a preferences file.

After it was all set up i copied the application from the "master" computer to the "slave" computer. I think i copied over the network with file sharing but a usb key would probably work too.

fire up MLB on the "slave" computer and add the wow's from that computer.

I think i enabled / disabled broadcast and black / white listing a few times and it started working between the computers.

    a few notes:

I launched my wow applications on my own and added them the MLB after they were launched.

I think i had my firewall on, but you may want to try it with the firewall off for troubleshooting if it still doesn't work for you.

Make sure you have Bonjour operating on your system, it should be by default i think (i am not even sure it can be turned off now that i think about it)

You should be able to see the other computer in the finder if you have file sharing turned on for both computers. This will ensure that you don't have any network problems that might keep the 2 computers from seeing each other.

Are you using Airport / wireless or a wired connection. You may want to try a wired connection for both computers if that is possible.

I hope some of this helps, let me know if you have any luck or not.

Thanks Shadowalker for trying to help Holmesser out.

I have only tested MLB with SL, though I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work on Leopard.

I will not be able to get back to the office to into this further until this evening.
And not being able to reproduce the behavior that Holmesser is seeing is making it difficult to track down too.

Would it be beneficial if I added a list of connections clients so that you could see if you were connected?
That should be fairly easy enough.

Also, the Black/White list info is saved in the Application, you can get to that though by right clicking on the MLB Application and go to its content. You will find .plist files there to edit.
When I get back to the office I will edit this further if you need the complete accurate steps.

    Awesome.
I am glad you got it working.

i'm not 100% sure, i followed Shadewalkers guide and it worked, though it only works from computer to the other and not in reverse, this changed when i restarted MLB, is there a way to choose which is the main computer?

I don't think there is supposed to be a "main" computer. I think it worked for me in both directions. Sounds like something is still funny with your set up. Glad to hear you got it working.

Shadow is right, there is not really a concept of 'Main' computer. It should be both ways (or all ways for more then 2).

Also, I can see, though not tried or tested, a bug in that if you start a MLB Instance on computer 1 and enable broadcast or Key filtering, and then start the next MLB instance on computer 2, then they broadcast and Filtering will not be synced. The toggling will be wacky. Enabling one will disable the other, and visa versa.
Again, I have not tried this, but knowing how the code works, I am sure this happen. I will probably need to look into putting in some sort of sync that gets all Clients on the same state.

Just something I was thinking about while setting on hold with Blizzard for the last 40 minutes.
