computer problems are the pitts! might be lucky in one way that the stuff died. A problem that is random is worse I think, harder to find and fix

I'd probably use need for repairs as an excuse to upgrade my system.

So it may not be the HDD after all. I replaced it this morning and the system just powers itself down.

Given that I'm incredibly frustrated with it, I'm doing a completely new build: new mobo, new cpu, new gpu, the works. Multiboxing will be down for the count for another couple weeks, but I'll be back bigger, better stronger.

Do you have any parts you can swap out and test like video card, etc? Also, try taking out your memory except for 1 then boot...if that doesn't work replace that one with one of the others.

You can also try resetting the CMOS if you haven't yet. There is either a jumper you can engage or remove the MB battery.
