I have noticed several posts about 10 boxing recently and a few other boxers I have chatted with are interested in trying it don't know where to start. I thought it would be cool for some folks who are 10 boxing to provide some tips on things that they learned to make it smoother.

If you have some pro tips post them here!

  • Make sure to close programs or processes you don't need to have running, especially if you are 10 boxing (or even 5 or more) on one system. Firefox, iTunes, etc. those things suck up memory and cause CPU spikes. I use a free program called Game Booster that will automatically close junk you that will slow you down by switching you to Gaming Mode. You can switch right back to all of your bloatware when you are done
  • Addons. All of your slaves don't need Gatherer, Auctioneer and Magic Runes running. Make sure that specific addons like these are disabled for toons that don't need them. It seems small but it really adds up. Also, comb through your addons to make sure you don't have features that overlap. Jamba does a ton of stuff that you may not realize and may even have other addons installed for those purposes. You can also trim Jamba back, too. Just use what you need. Consider a simple UI. Everyone wants to have a super slick looking UI but sometimes less is more. Especially if you are doing anything with Repeater Regions and keybinds. The standard WoW UI is sometimes enough. Plus when an addon breaks you make a ton of work for yourself trying to work around it.
  • Close ISBoxer Suite, if you use it. Once my team is exported I close ISBoxer, but leave Innerspace running. This may change with JoeMultiboxer but it's a good tip for now. I used it for almost a year before I started doing this but closing it freed up a bit more in the way of resources. I run 2 machines x5 now so I had ISBoxer open on both machines. As far as I know, it isn't necessary.
  • Composition. When I decided to 10 box I decided that I wanted one of every class (at least every gear type) so no gear is wasted! When I got my 10 I found out how complicated I had made my setup. Now all of that rogue, hunter, druid and warrior gear gets sharded and I'm a much happier boxer. If you study the successful guys you see that they usually have streamlined compositions. I loved my DK tank but he did not play well with my paladin. Not as well as two pallys are. This is a personal preference and any comp can work but you might want to keep it simple, especially if you are just starting to 10 box.
  • In game settings. I'm terrible at this so I'm hoping others weight in on what settings to specifically tweak. I basically turn the video settings down as much as I can stand it and let it rip.
