    Default High latency (Aus-based)...proxy server?

after patch 4.0.1, my latency has skyrocketed to the point that it has become unplayable when i used to sit at an average of 400ms (which isn't terrible for an Aus-based player) on the same hardware and software setup. during the past few days, 2 out of 5 will get around 400ms and the rest would be upwards of 2k ms (also, any reason why they all wouldn't have matching latencies?)

anyway, i have given up fixing it and thinking about why they all wouldn't have matching latencies. i also refuse to contact my ISP as they would just send me running around in circles.

so i tried reducethelag (a proxy server) and it seem to have helped although latency went down for 3 out of 5. it could be just a limitation of their 30-day trial but anyway:

to non-US based players (or ex-) can you recommend a proxy server that you have had good experience with? btw, i've visited reducethelag, lowerping, smoothping, wowtunnels and wtfast (dubious?).
Calling me a noob would be an understatement...

I hear a lot of aussies use lowerping and smoothping, but that's all I got. One of them wrote up a guide on how to use widecap + smoothping (or other proxies) with ISBoxer: http://isboxer.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=649

(It'd be fairly trivial for me to build a proxy into Inner Space and ISBoxer, but Blizzard recommended I avoid doing so)

    tnx Lax.

i was sposed to post this a few hrs ago. i got sidetracked. apparently quite a lot of ppl are experiencing bad latency: http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/th...Id=27187855680. it's a 58-page thread (as of writing) with no blue response. gg blizz.

ill give smoothping a go, see if it improves my lat, else not playing til cata.

    I personally use Lowerping.

It supports Multi-Boxing, it works very well. (I am on a Wireless setup using a bloody USB).

On 5 clients my ping is around 380-400. Which, given it was at 1800-2500 before Lowerping, it's definitely reasonable now.

    Give it a try!

    I would consider 400ms unplayable lol ....

For 4 months after one of the Sunwell patches, when the whole world's latency went up for that time, our average latency was around 1200 for Aussie players... 4 months!!!

You take what you can get in this country.

I am from the states originally, and let me tell you.... AUS is archaic when it comes to internet. It's fucking ridiculous.

My ping used to be 40ms one one toon, and about 90ms when 5 boxing.

The best I have seen it with Lowerping was about 310. And that was a bloody godsend...

I use Lowerping occasionally to 5 box. Works fine with Keyclone and ISboxer.
Lowerping doesn't have the putty window stuff that Smoothping had when i was using that, and works ok with 5 instances of wow going through it.

having gone from 600-700 on dial up 5 years ago to an average of 500 I guess i'm used to it, I haven't tried a lowerping service but have been tempted...

Is there any extra cost because of the amount of clients we multiboxers run?

The price for Lowerping is standard, I think a bit more than a lot of the other clients.

    LowerPing is $7.95 AUD/mo
