You seem to be confused as to how things work in this regard. I think maybe you're thinking of a scenario where you add a 2nd graphics card to a desktop PC, which could require more power and cooling, depending on the card.
Most (if not all) laptops can only output to 2 screens (either 2 external or 1 external and the laptop screen). The main factor that determines how hard the graphics chip works is the software you are running (such as games). The amount of monitors (and resolutions) have little (if any) impact.
