Default Priest Disc Macros - channel issue

after the change from unable to add delays in our macros this has made healing a pita with discpline as im trying to work out how to cast penance without interrupting casting on a spam macro.

so far if i spam i can get 66% of penance to successfully fire off due to being cut short.

is there a way to delay by 1 second with something? anything? or somehow impliment the nochannel into one line castsequence ?

if all fails i will have to go holy to avoid penance

anyone know a way round this?

I think if you start the sequence with something like
/castsequence [nochanneling] penance, renew , etc
that should solve your problem. It won't cut penance and will only advance to renew once penance has finished. I use a similar rotation method for my shadow priest with mindflay in the mix, so that the cast sequence only casts when you're not already channeling. Another thing I use in the same macro is

    /cast [channeling:mind flay] shadowfiend

so that whenever I'm mindflaying I'll pop shadowfiend if it's off cooldown.
    Hope that helps.

thanks i will try this today.

regarding your bottom macro, is there a macr combination so i can have normal healing rotations and make penance fire off when its off cd? this would be extremely useful otherwise i will use resets. i got a ok healing macro going, no where near as good as before 4.0.1 but its all in the works.

Great to hear that it sorted your problem.

I had a quick go at using the cast sequence fall through method people here have been using for dps to try and get penance to fire when off cooldown. This seemed to work ok, but you might have to adjust the reset time and change heal to another heal for optimal results.

    /castsequence [nochanneling] reset=8 renew,heal,heal,heal
    /cast penance

Also I didn't realise but shadowfiend needs a target so you might have to add assist for that macro line.

    With the new changes :

    /castsequence reset=whatever Power Word:Shield, Heal,Heal

is more than enough to keep my tank at full, at least in heroics...

This is a very mana efficient rotation, also helps with the overhealing(%90 of my healings were overheal before the patch)...

With it; Penance became like a low-cost, quick emergency spell for me, in case i need extra healing on tank or on slaves taking heavy damage. Therefore it is not in my rotations for the priest as i like it to be not on cooldown when i need it.

Of course this is more related to individiual playstyle... I always had a tendency or reflex of trying to cast Penance when in situations above before the patch only to get frustrated to see it on cooldown as it was on my tank rotation. So taking Penance out of the rotation made me happy and suited my playstyle, but it may not for someone else.

i would think holy is a better spec for you?

through my rotation i have set is not exactly great on mana over time but it keeping healing at a maxium, i think i will try out your sequence and see how they comapre, mana vs healing vs up time. so far im banging out every disc move i can use except for pain and power those are sperate cd's for oh shit button.

i'l reveal my macros soon as im happy and doing heroics, but atm last few weeks i have being doing nothing but macros and setting up the new 5 mix group.

Be aware that; the rotation i suggested is a slow and steady one...

It' s full potential is reached with aegis procs and is just enough to keep the tank at %90-%100. Therefore u may need a couple of casts to get there. So; you should be carefull and monitor what is going on at the start of any fight and use any available tanking cooldowns, trinkets and such; as things may get ugly if something goes wrong. Btw you are definetely gonna have to support it with penance or flash heal with fights where some heavy spike damage is expected like the scourgelord in PoS.
