There are a bunch of glyphs that you can only learn from doing research. The books and trainers only teach you about 3/4 of the glyphs. I remember having to do research of another month and a half or so to get them all.

I was disappointed about the 310% mounts being gone as drops. I don't recall them saying it would happen with this patch. I only needed the halloween event to get my "What a long strange trip its been" mount /cry

Things I expected but that did not happen:

    - I would be completely overwhelmed trying to figure out the new mechanics. It turns out the new systems are easier (at least for me) to understand since they tend to be more consistent/make more sense.

    - That my team would be less effective. Exactly the opposite - my DPS went up almost double, and my tank is pretty damn durable! I wound up so excited by this that I blogged it even. Yes, I know, no life.

    - That the new talents would take longer to figure out. Not so much, it turns out they're pretty straight forward and make a lot of sense, more than the previous mess.

Things I did not expect but that did happen:

    - That I would actually *like* the shorter talent trees with fewer points. Yes, people are forced into cookie cutter specs (well, with a few points that can vary, for flavor) but for me I just do what I do and if other people do the same thing, they do the same thing. I suspect that the way I've specced out my characters isn't the "standard" that will be promulgated throughout the community, but it works for me so yay.

    - Macros changed to make boxing *easier*. With my paladin I have a lovely macro that handles an "optimal" rotation of Crusader's Strike, Shield of the Righteous and Hammer of Righteousness to maximize the effect of Holy Power. It also throws in Consecration whenever it's ready, Avenger's Shield whenever it's ready, and Holy Wrath whenever its ready. With my shaman DPSers, I can fire off elemental mastery whenever it's up and also spew Lava Bursts whenever it cools down or Lava Surge procs, AND I can take advantage of Fulmination. No need to manage procs or pay much attention - just spam my DPS key until I need to replace it.

    - Things to be as smooth for me as they have been, both from a gameplay standpoint and a server stability/game not crashing standpoint. From a gameplay perspective, I think because I wasn't very well geared, the changes to the mechanics of gear actually helped me a LOT: my avoidance is about the same since most pieces I had didn't have any bonus armor (which got nerfed hard), and my parry & dodge were higher after the patch than before. Assuming that the no-crit of Righteous Fury works, I am now a more potent tank than I was before. Yay!

    - The changes to graphics are AWESOME! I have my main window running at Ultra settings, and water looks really nice. Shadows look really nice. Everything looks really nice, and my framerates are also really nice even in places like Dalaran during prime time. Woot! I kinda thought the changes would be lame or that they would cripple my performance if I used them.

    - That I would like this patch. I really was kind of nervous/dreading it because things before were working pretty well. So far, I'm quite happy.

That was one thing I forgot to mention. I was totally expecting a big performance hit- then another one when Cat launches. My computer is probably right on the line for 5 boxing.

The pleasant surprise was my performance has improved dramatically for the better.

I did notice performance inrease as well. I noticed less lag and for some reason the UI seemed more responsive. That was a nice bonus.

The conversion was 1 badge (Frost/Triumph) = 11.58 JP. So two badges of Frost = 2 * 11.58 = 23.16. So you're getting the same amount for the daily, and actually getting a bit more for each boss.

My team dinged 80 not too long ago, in quest blues and crafted epics. I expect to have full T10 under this new system in 15 days.

I havn't played much but it seems that things are more fluid and ThunderBuff looks a lot better, not sure why. I dont like the new very simplistic talent trees but oh well.

Most all addons seem shot, probably be a few days to a week before I can really play.

Was very happy with fire mage until they plan to nerf ....

I hope the change in macros is not an error if they keep it Ill be way way more powerful.

Dont know about pally tank yet but holding agro in this game was complete joke compared to EQ, if its a lot harder then its just what I been doing for 6 years ....
