i have got alot better gear now for him and can almost hit enar 5k manually.

is there no way of managing the maelstrom weapon in the macro efficiently? it doesnt fire off quick enough it just sometimes works. i want it to execute within a 1 second.

hmmm? managing procs sperately would be crazy for MW as it can proc every second or 2 O.o

Maelstrom Weapon stacks to and should only be used at 5. There's no way you're getting a full stack every second or two. You can tack /cast Lightning Bolt /stopcasting at the end of the macro, however, stopcasting doesn't prevent it from trying to cast even when it's not instant. All it does is cancels something that IS casting, and that is NOT instant either. I often see at least half, sometimes 3/4 of a full cast go off before stopcasting will kill the cast. When you're casting, you're not swinging weapons.

    I ran 4 tests at 5 minutes.

At a steady speed of 2 presses per second, using stopcasting in the macro to "automatically" cast the spell was a loss of 10 attacks on my Enhancement shaman and 30 attacks on my Ret Paladin. This resulted in a loss of 1.3% DPS on Enh Melee attacks and 1.4% DPS on Ret Melee attacks.

At a more spammy speed of 5 presses per second, I lost 12 attacks on my Enh and 56 on my Ret. This resulted in a 2.4% Melee DPS loss on the Enh and 5.2% loss on my Ret.

I didn't factor in the loss of Proc DPS due to procs sitting there until the macro got around to calling the fallthru because procs are random, but some procs sat there for several seconds and in the case of AoW > Exorcism, some were lost altogether as a new proc overwrote the one that was waiting.

It's a tradeoff. Micromanaging Melee procs {casters may differ} requires more attention and can suffer in hectic situations where you don't have the luxury of paying enough attention to them. For me, personally, I don't find myself in that situation enough to warrant the constant DPS loss of missed/waiting procs and sacrificed melee attacks.
