Rather than try and address multiple threads, I'm just going to plop our current thoughts in this one post. Please excuse the brevity.

    1) We think Fury, Arms, Feral cat and Retribution dps is too low and we will be buffing them.

    2) We think mage dps is too high, especially Fire, and will be nerfing it.

    3) We think Shadow priest dps is too high, but that's largely a result of Shadow Word: Death spam, which is tough on healers. We'll be fixing that.

    4) We think Destro warlock dps is too high, but that's largely a result of Searing Pain spam, which is tough on tanks. We'll be fixing that.

    5) As we suspected, PvP dps is just too high given that the health pools of Cataclysm haven't kicked in yet. While competitive PvP is over for the moment, we still want the environment to feel better so we will be buffing resilience. This change might be reverted at level 85.

There will probably be more changes after another night of raiding and BGs. Many of the bug fixes we have made today will affect dps as well. Stay tuned.

Guess it was coming with pyroblast and scorch and living bomb .....

Rats der goes my plan for 20 fire mages being invincible but lets see how deep the nerf is .......

Think I just gonna sit out for a bit untill all the dust settles, why spend time on things that will just change soon anyways.

At this stage, pick the class or classes which interest you the most.

If you plan on boxing 20+, look towards classes that have AoE effects probably.
Not necessarily DPS Aoe, but anything that stacks for your entire raid.
    EverQuest I: Bard / Enchanter / Druid / Wizard / 2x Magician.
    Diablo III: 4x Crusader & 4x Wizard.

There are some rumblings on the wow forums that they gave Ret pallies a huge buff to burst as a way to fix their damage. Hammer of Wrath hitting for 12k on targets with 1200 resil, and some claiming 20k hits on random targets. I haven't had a chance to pop on my pally, and since she is only 72 I'm not sure I'd be able to see the effect, but is anyone else able to see if they just made pallies *THE* burst class again?

Shame about spriests, Shadow Word: Death was super fun.

DPS went way up on my shamans and mana efficiency is insane now it seems. Tried a WG and realized how much easier I could kill people but also realized how much easier I could get killed. Going to have to play around a bit with them to get a better feel.

I just re-activated Wow last night, and am still DLing the patch, but from what I was able to do yesterday on one shaman, while the patch was DLing, I'm uber-excited.

Elemental mastery, in addition to making instant casts and causing 15% haste for 15 sec, also ups damage by 15%.

The largest damage spell atm is not a nuke, ITS AN INSTANT CAST!!!!! Lightning shield stacks to 9, as you cast lightning spells (and the 5 hits from chain lightning can ALL charge the shield (60% chance)), and when you drop the instant cast earth shock for ~3k, you also drop the 6 extra lightning shield charges for ~10k, and crits for 20k !!!

Add in that you can do the classic, Hard cast nuke-> Elemental mastery -> instant nuke + rocket gloves -> shock +now 10k in lightning charges, I calculated that on a ~50% resil target, with 4 shaman, you can't do less than 54k damage, even if nothing crits, but since I have 45% crit chance and a 16% elemental overload chance, on average I would expect this to do more like 80K

With that said, here are the specific changes we made in reference to my previous post:

    1) We buffed the base points and coefficients of many warrior dps abilities. We didn't do as much to tanking abilities.

We buffed the base points and coefficients of many Ret abilities.

We buffed the base points and coefficients of many Feral cat abilities.

    2) We lowered the base points and coefficients of many Mage abilities, but lowered Fire more than the other two.

    3) We nerfed Shadow Word: Death, but it is possible we didn't nerf it enough. It should not be Shadow's biggest spell.

    4) We returned Searing Pain's damage to its 3.3.5 levels.

    5) We increased the benefit of resilience by 50% for players level 80 and below. The tooltips will probably not reflect this change.

We don't have any other changes to announce at this time. I am reluctant to mention additional classes or specs that we are looking at currently for fear of instilling excitement or panic.

    [BLIZZ] Balance in low-level BGs
So can a blue state whether or not the very, very high damage outputs in low level pvp will be addressed or not? Rogues able to one-shot most enemies in sub-80 pvp: working as intended, or not?
Nobody should be one-shotting at any battleground level, so yes that (and many other class abilities) will be addressed. (Source)
