Default Any plans for Keyclone coming to Mac?

    Hey Keyclone, what's up?

I'm curious as to whether or not your going to venture into the world of Mac. Right now, it's not as simple/easy/efficient to box on Mac, but it is playable. I'm just curious if you have anything planned for it. I would certainly pay more for it that then pc version, even up to around $60. Just curious,

    thanks.

Someone posted this earlier and it is what I am using right now to mess around on my macbook

    http://code.google.com/p/clonekeys/

The only problem is that it sends every key stoke to all the windows. So I just ended up getting rid of the wasd for the alts that are running around with me.

well... you could drop the $60 into the development donation box on Solid ICE... that'd help

    http://solidice.com/keyclone

main thing holding me back is a complete lack of macs... i'm generally not going to plunk down $2000 for a mac, then another $500 for a development kit... then another $2000 for a 2nd mac to test the multi machine...

$4500 for what? maybe 10 keyclone mac users? i'm sorry... but it just doesn't seem worth it

Most of the newer macs are able to run a PC enviroment trough use of 'bootcamp' or 'parallels' software. Maybe you can give that a try and just use keyclone.

If that does nor run on your mac, either buy a new one, or get one for keyclone

Personally I'd love to see this too -- and I think there's more than 10 of us using Macs -- we're just stuck booting into Windows via BootCamp.

I know I'd be happy to pay for a Mac version. Heck - keep it simple at first and just port the key broadcasting on one comp (similar to CloneKeys) but with all the other features such as do-no-pass, keymaps, etc -- see what the response is and if it warrants figuring out all the multi-box stuff.

Macs suck. They are only good to do video editing and that sort of thing.

    Nuff said.

Gee, that comment was really helpful to the overall thread.

Try to keep the Mac vs. PC crap out of here - people use what works for them.

I think that Keyclones Cost:Benefit analysis sums up this post quite nicely.

I tried to resist...but I have to say it...

I was at walmart yesterday looking for a Wii + Smash Bros Brawl...I overhear a conversation at the PC Game aisle nearby. I turn to look and it's this not particularly-bright lookin guy who thinks he's a wigger too, bitching at the Electronics Section guy, saying and I shit you not these are more or less his words "YOO GUYZ NEED TO HAVE MORR GAMEZ FUR MACINTOSHES LIKE THE IMACS AND G4s! ALL THESE DAMN THINGS R 4 PC" and he was saying it in an angry tone like it was their fault...I actually lol'd out loud, but to myself after hearing that, I had to turn around and go to the next aisle. He is the posterchild for mac users IMO...I know you're not all like that but christ...there's a reason most game companies ignore Macs and yer lucky Blizz likes you guys enough to make mac versions of all their games lol

I find Clonekeys on a mac easy: if you know the key is going to get broadcast to every WoW window, you just have to adjust and make sure the macro or keyboard setup on the slave WoWs is assigned correctly for the action. Similarly, you have to adjust the master WoW setup to have some dumb keys for when you need to communicate with the slaves only. Programming macros to use modifier keys (ctrl, shift, etc) allows you to perform some nice variations as well, for example dps-ing the focus target or healing a party member with the ctrl key modifier pressed.

I think it would be a challenge for a non-professional programmer to switch to a unix-based kernel (OSX) for porting an application that was designed for the windows platform. We can't be mad at Keyclone for not wanting to invest in such an endeavor.

Alternatively, Clonekeys is an open source project, the code is there for people to use/change/enhance. If you are a mac user, contributing to Keyclone's development fund (especially when the developer made the comment he did earlier in this thread) seems sort of silly, imho. Instead I think it would be better to get the community of dual-boxing mac users out there (all 10 of us video editing nerds, lol) to try to contribute to/support Clonekeys.

Finally, I would just like to say how much fun it is to have 5 WoW's running on my Mac Pro (dual quad, 8GB ram). Using the OSX Leopard "Spaces" feature makes switching to the client windows a breeze. I'll post a snapshot 8) soon.

For me, it's completely functional and I was able to take my orc-shammy-family from 1 to 10 in a few hours after installing Clonekeys and creating the toons. I hit the same problems others report in other threads (namely, how gather quests both suck *AND* blow), but it was surprisingly easy after all.

    cheers!
