Unlike most people, I choose not to blow 20 minute cooldowns in order to down a boss. I also like to stay away from using pots -- I'll typically only use them on my main (tanking paladin) in dire situations.

Not everyone is going to have an earth elemental or 4 or 5 at their disposal.

This is just general common sense, people. "Hai, I'm too lazy to use these ten billion stacks of linen/wool/mageweave/runecloth/netherweave I've been collecting in order to do a one-time leveling process of a very easy profession that may someday save my life. Ah, f*ck it, I'll just sell it on the AH for a couple gold."

I had that mentality and right now I regret not leveling it. That's my opinion. I believe it's useful in more than one situation, and you'll regain the costs from the cloth.

And fur, the rez moment I'm thinking of is when a group of 70's steamroll me out of the blue, and they're sitting there camping me. I can rez at half health, insta-gib one with 4 chain lightnings out of nowhere, and maybe kill the others... By the time that's done, I have just a couple secs to heal to full and rez any of my chars who have died (since they were at half health and totally unbuffed) and I'm oom by the time the enemy runs back to their bodies and rezzes again. That's time better spent using a bandage so that you're at 100% health once they return and you can b*tch slap them to oblivion again. Very useful.
I guess I forgot to mention one of my 70s is a 375 alch/herb so potions are a plenty. Using 5 potions(1 each) per instance run @70 for only one boss in one instance (the MC boss in labs) is hardly very expensive, especially when compared to the cost of leveling 5x first aid on price inflated old world mats(I can buy mats off the AH and make 20x super healing pots for the cost of 4 stacks of wool cloth atm and im not potion spec...wtf?). I do get plenty of cloth while leveling but it certainly isnt enough to level 5 characters with. I still dont ever plan to level it unless one day im sitting there going "wow I have a lot of spare gold what should I do? Oh I guess ill level first aid now"...

*edit* reincarnation is a 20min cooldown too... And I dont sell hardly anything at all. In my entire wow career I would say I keep/recycle 95% of what I get. Cloth is stored for leveling tailoring and first aid. All greens (except for the very few good ones like 'of the bandit' type) are DE'd and stored for leveling enchanting/getting enchants. Leather is collected and stored for getting items made and leveling LW(going to be doing this x5 later on), greys are vendored, duh. scrolls/potions/buffs are kept and used when running instances to..well..buff myself lol.

You know, I totally had this mentality when I first got my Earth Elementals at 66. I almost felt guilty for using them to down bosses, uber-elite mobs, etc. Then it dawned on me. I'm not fawking cheating, so who cares? Its not like I'm blowing 10,000g twinking out a level 19 rogue to be superman in BGs... I'm using a 20 minute cooldown class ability, that would otherwise be collecting dust if not used. I'm not any less of a player because I do something differently. I'm getting the job done, within the rules blizzard has laid down before me.

On my warrior (I used to tank a lot), I'd always save shield wall for that "oh sh!t" moment... then I was like "hell, why not use it... its not like its going to cost me any gold or anything".

To each his/her own. I'd rather trade the cloth for gold (for leather!) to level up LW. I've got two shammies at 375, and the other two are sitting at 300 just waiting for some more leather to hit the AH. Epic LW gear, here I come! :P
True, but I didn't level 5 chars just to make things easysauce on myself. I enjoy challenges, and to me, proving that hybrids can perform at the same level as pure classes means I don't want to use any abilities that others might consider "OP".

I like to use my elementals to show off in Shattrath anyway.

I never had any problems gathering cloth. Ever. I was always at a huge excess of cloth. So I kick myself in the head when I think about having to buy it now at those uber inflated prices, whereas before I could have made bandages and USED them while leveling instead of wiping miserably when my shammies went oom.

sethekk halls is ez mode even w/o elementals (and complete crap gear) playing 4 shamans.
on ikiss you'd be stupid to use them even since you dont even need to heal yourself if you dont screw up with the ae

First Aid may save your life when oom between fights and need your hp up asap ;p Even with healer multiboxers I'd recommend keeping a stack of heavy netherweave "just in case"; you never know when you'll need it. My druid rarely does but it has saved my ass a few times, and if you ever manage to raid with one or all of the chars they'll be a great manasaver on the longer fights.

My personal view,

I've done a lot of raiding in my time and first aid is essential for all classes in raids, there are always times when people can use them and no matter what anyone says another way of healing yourself with no cost (apart from a few seconds) is a bonus.

It may only save you once a month but if it saves you it saves you.

Default First Aid

If you ever played the level 39 BG for a while, you can be max 375 First aid and using Heavy Netherweave bandages.
One or two ticks from the bandage makes you full health, and it's cheaper than stocking up on potions.

I usually use up the linens to cap First Aid in the newbie area; and selling the bandages to vendors. Bandages sell for more than selling the raw cloths to vendors.

Also, I save 60 each Wool and up for turn in and get exp.

After level 35, my toons usually make their way to Arathi heading to Bandlands, so this First Aid trainer to get from 225 to 300. At that stop, I'd have my highlevel toon buy the 3 books from Hellfire and mail them to my toons.

At each mailbox, I'd have enough stacks of Runecloth and Netherweave from 260 to 375.

Well for me it's was a no-brainer : I always levelled all my toons with First aid but also (i'm a bit ashamed to admit it) wit Cooking
I try to level all of them during my level grinds as it's very quick to collect the materials in the beginning.

I don't know if it's gonna be of any use in the future (still in my 40's now), once a week, once a month... we'll see.
But I do know that I will be glad to have all my buddies at max skill ... just for being at max skill

Normal Attack: 2000 on cloth, 800-1000 on plate.
[url='http://www.wowhead.com/?spell=36738
Arcane Volley: Hits surrounding targets for around 1500 arcane damage. This effect has a very long range and ignores LoS.
Arcane Explosion: Massive and huge AoE (approx 40 yard range) that deals 4500 to 5000 damage. Damage is only dealt to targets that are within line of sight. Has a cast time.
Blink: Often to someone (even if they are out of LoS). Right after this he begins casting Arcane Explosion.[*]
Polymorph: Turns someone into a sheep. Lasts for 10 seconds, regenerates health but does not break on damage. Warriors can reflect this to prevent getting sheeped.

And how do you dodge the Arcane Volley so that you don't need heals?

Oh, that's right... you can't.

I was thinking the exact same thing. lol

I have to mass-chain heal after every volley. Grounding totems eats sheeps though (but not the arcane volley)

Let the sheeps go thru. They regen health/mana. PvP trink or dispell them when he starts his AE. Searing totems up for after the AE - he'll run around smacking the totems.

I just use flame shock and the occasional lightning bolt, but for the most part I'm spending my time chain healing constantly during this fight. If I had bandages I'd be wasting my mana less on heals and more on pewpew.

EDIT: Btw, Concentration aura FTW
