Thread: AV BG Leveling

    Default AV BG Leveling

I'm tempted to mix up my leveling a little bit. I never do BGs ever, but I want to try and take part in every part of the game.

How do I optimise my XP/hour by leveling in Battlegrounds? Obviously doing so on BG weekend is the best way, but I mean quests?

I don't know anything about quests? Are all of the AV quests daily and do I collect every AV quest from inside? Which ones are best to complete? and are they repeatable each time?

Could someone explain the cycle which I should do if I want to level in AV BG.

    Thanks very much.

I have a tone of 60s that need leveling.

All the BG quests for any and every BG are once only. The AV quests in particular are available from the camp in the Alterac mountains, just north of hillsbrad foothills.

There are some repeatanle quests within AV, but these do not reward xp, These are the ones which require you to campture rams and get wolf hides.

So if I wanted to XP grind in BG? I just queue and complete... nothing else to it?

that's correct, que, AND WIN if you want good xp. long losses are really slow for leveling but it can be a nice change of pace.

The completion of objectives get you experience. Along with winning in the end.

As a boxer, taking a tower/bunker and ensuring it burns. Then taking the next tower/bunker and doing the same. Possibly killing Galv/Belinda in there too, is probably the best way to earn experience.

As far as winning, retaking your tower/bunker so it does not burn, is a decent plan too. A bunker is much easier to maneuver your way up, then the towers. So alliance might be better off defending their bunkers and horde might be better off holding/burning the alliance bunkers.

I wouldn't want to Battleground as my only source of experience. But it is definitely a change of pace, from a monotonous grind. Mix it up, you have Battlegrounds, Dungeons, Quests and Mindless Killing as the basic leveling tools.

I agree on capping (or recapping in my case) horde towers. They are a complete pita to get all the way in. I find I can get up okay, but can't get into the top room where the flag is with any expedience. End up with 1, maybe 2, toons in the room with the rest jogging in place outside watching my solo/duo die.

Alliance bunkers are much better. I drop an earthbind totem at the base of the last set of stairs and position my team at the flag. I can hit alliance that come in and then murder them as they move slowly up the last set of stairs.

As previously stated, winning is a good exp rate and losing is a crappy exp rate. Still, its fun.

Now, AV weekend? Spend all weekend in there. Good exp regardless and if you win more than you lose, you'll fly through levels.

I found that as a melee team, Towers were Much easier to defend, cause inside the flag room, just about everywhere is in melee range. in bunkers, melee teams struggle, and ive had a single frost mage kite me around and prevent me from doing much of anything. IWT doesn't work around curved ledges My ranged teams did well in bunkers, i can just pick people off without going all the way up.

Also, as alliance male Draenei shamans, if I were to try to go up a tower under the effect of Heroism, or any other size increasing buff, I get stuck in the middle... Kinda dumb if you ask me. And often when the team goes for Galv, someone inevitably hits heroism and i have to stay out of towers for a while...

Towers/bunkers are one of the coolest aspects of AV as a boxer. most times a team loses AV is because someone either didn't defend their tower/bunker, or a powerful force retook all of their towers. Boxers ARE the powerful force to retake bunkers, and hold off the onlslaught better than 3-4 solo players that don't know each other.

Master either defending or retaking your tower/bunker and you will win a lot more. On AV weekend, even a loss is just about as fast as questing, and IMO is way more fun. BG weekend AV wins are INSANELY high exp, on a good streak last time i leveled i hit 600,000 experience in one hour, and the last 20 minutes was in a queue... I think a good win was up to 10% of a level from 71-80.
