Thread: 5 druids

    Default 5 druids

I`m planning to level a 5xdruid team untill cata comes out the old fasion way so no RAF. I have the items on my 80teams to get the needed heirblooms and I`m hoping to run dungeons, most likely all the way to 60 atleast. Combined with some pvp.

I was thinking of the setup and one thing is for sure, I LOVE IWT melee. Done my fair share of casters and melee is just fun, watching chars zerg down folks and run around them. However cats becoem available at 20 and are still only single target dps so I was thinking, what if you would run a resto with 4 bears? No real tank, basicly 4 tanks that can aoe like hell. I leveled a bear tank to 44 a few months ago and I basicly topped all dps lists in dungeons with my aoe and mass pulls. Seems like a good way to aoe farm my way trough instances this way. My healer shouldn`t have a harder job keeping the 4 up then it is to keep one bear up I think.

Anyone tryed this or any idea`s of comments on this?

    Thanks in advance.

I run instances in cat form (pop bear every once in a while) and just heal when needed. They are at level 36 and able to clear instances for their level. Each cat uses fairie fire to pull a group of mobs so aggro gets distributed. Works out pretty nice, actually. And hibernate on beasts.

While solo leveling a druid I allready noticed that cats can take some decend damage. However compaired to the bear aoe the dps is to low in vanilla content.

Yeah swipe is pretty meager damage. It might be faster to focus down one target at a time with the kitties.

Leveling, I just had a very basic rotation, with all five kitties on the same target.
For the most part, things die very quickly.

    Mangle > Rake > Savage Roar > Mangle x3 > Rip.

The new mechanic (Cataclysm) of being able to Ravage, after a Feral (Cat) Charge, even if not stealthed... should be very good damage too.

I would suspect that 4 bears + tree would be viable depending on the mobs, but it would take quite a while versus 1 bear + 4 cats. Basically, if they all die before the tree runs out of mana, then you're golden. You'd have to play around with it a bit to find the sweet spot, though, as that's hard to estimate and depends on gear, enchants, etc.

Generally, though, the biggest problem with leveling druids versus leveling paladins is the lack of really good passive healing. With kitties, the passive heal from ILotP helps but it isn't anywhere near as good as Divine Storm + seal of light. Really, though, since instances are gravy and not really required for leveling, 5 feral should work fine. If you have real problems with a particular instance, just level once or twice and you can go back and faceroll it.
