After the removal of the cleansing totem, Chromaggus fight is very very hard now...
As i posted above, i do run a mixed group of :
Paladin Tank
Disc Priest
Balance Druid
Arcane Mage
Elemental Shaman
Paladin Tank is very weak at this fight for threat generation. Before the patch; cleansing totem was helping for you to keep your focus on threat and dps. It was taking long but with no real problems.
But now; whatever i did was not enough.
I created macros for mass dispelling with every character which enabled me to dispel any debuff the boss lands within seconds. But with the paladin being nearly useless; keeping track with threat for short dps opportunities while at the same time monitoring and removing the debuffs was too much for me.
Well it was not really too much but paladin's threat generation was not allowing me to dps for longer durations. I even tried holding aggro with paladin self healing. It was better than tanking rotation but not enough to shorten the length of the fight for a significant amount.
So no matter what i do; priest and druid was going oom at some stage of the fight because of heavy dispelling costs even with innervate, hymn,shadow fiend and mana pots...This; always led to a mutation and therefore a wipe. The least i could get him was 520k hp.
I really don' t know how many times i tried and wiped; countless times...
At some point; i have decided to bring my Dk tank which i don't realy use.
He was not ready after the patch. So I quickly glyped, respecced and got him to dungeon. Also as i don't play with him much he didin't have any macros. But i was too tired and pissed to set him up and do a proper fight. Instead i' ve setup my toons so that; whatever i do with the dk, my toons would execute their sequence...
What i did was to start a quick fight to wipe the group, aiming only Dk to be alive killing the mutated toons with him. After i did so i continued the fight with only Dk alive, until Chromaggus gets vulnerable to Arcane. This required Dk to be mutated 2 times about just over 10 minutes. When i saw the debuff, i quickly changed stance and let my Dk die fast...
After this; i ressed with shaman and got the group ready. Stacked the group directly facing Chromaggus with Dk in it. I' ve put PW:Shield on all toons and landed a PW: Barrrier. Also switched the druid to lunar phase. Popped up Bloodlust and any damaging and threat reducing cooldown availbale...
I pulled with double Icy Touch, reset and double icy touch again followed by Hs' s and DRW when available. After that i pressed any ability i see available. Priest was spamming Prayer of Healing, rest was going all out...
The fight lasted 38 seconds. Mage ended up 35k dps with over 160k AB crits, druid was just over 10k(bad gear), shaman was around 3-4k ish as only for the last couple of seconds the boss was vulnarable to nature, priest and dk(i have given the priority to threat generation rather than dmg) was under 1k... No one died, noone mutated. I only had to mass dispel with priest once, just to make sure noone gets mutated near the end of the fight.
It was fun and hilarious, felt like playing quake with the crazy buff...
Now; i am sure i can do it the normal way with the Dk, as he' s capable of holding aggro for this fight but i don't really like to play with him. I also don't like the idea of switching toons just to progress through an instance. So i would like to know if you have any new ideas or tactics to kill Chromaggus with a paladin tank.
