Right now, just to kill time with and build or do whatever you want to in there. After beta testing and launch, I imagine there will be much more to the game. You can set your own goals as to what you want to do in there. Me personally, I'm buildin my own home within an island with an underground network of tunnels to each other island and an underwater dome. Don't buy it if you're not into it, but the online multiplayer is free. But you risk the chance of some assholes coming in and destroying whatever you build.
